What about Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca? The screenplay used the word "I" to signify the woman who is referred to as "Mrs. De Winters," (her husband's last name, and the second woman to be called Mrs. De Winters, a name most people in the world of Rebecca associate with the late Mrs. Rebecca De Winters.
