LIVE POLL: Favorite French-American Heritage Celebrity

French-American Heritage Month is celebrated in July each year and honors the significant contributions made by those American citizens with French heritage. As of 2024, almost 13 million Americans are of French descent with just over 2 million speaking French or a French-based dialect at home. Some French-Americans and their descendants came to reside in the United States, when the land they lived upon was acquired by the United States (i.e. 1803 Louisiana Purchase) by various treaties that formally set the USA's borders. Some immigrated from territories that were formerly part of New France, but now governed as a British commonwealth during a series of mass migrations of French heritage peoples into America that began with the British conquest of Acadia in 1710 and ran through the Great Depression era of the 1930s. These great influxes would form distinct ethnic pockets within the United States, such as the Louisiana Créoles, the Louisiana Acadians (Cajuns), the Maine Acadians and the New England French-Canadian Americans, who previously identified as Québécois. Outside of these large streams, other individuals and families with French heritage would immigrate to the United States for the same religious, educational, economic and quality of life opportunities that drove most people to come to America from other countries. Each group of immigrants brought with them their own version of French culture and traditions to America.

Which of these selected current or former American citizens with French heritage is your favorite francophile influence on America?

Correction:

Each group would bring their own version of French culture and traditions to America.

@Jessica Thanks, Corrected. It was a point I wanted to make, but it was a bit clunky. I rephrased it and made it the concluding sentence, as it transitions into the asked question.

"Each group of immigrants brought with them their own version of French culture and traditions to America."
