I only took the 3 original King Kong stories for this Face-Off. If I include 'Kong: Skull Island (2017)', then I would also have to include the other spin-offs such as 'King Kong Lives (1986)', 'King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962)', etc. By the way, Faye Dunaway never played in 'King Kong (2005)'.

Good grief; just looked it up and I don't know where I got the idea Fay Dunaway was in King Kong!  :P  I guess I got her mixed with Fay Wray because of the name and thought she was Naomi Watts... my silly brain!  Okay, I see now.  I meant that the performance in 2005 was the best, and that was Naomi.  ;)  Sorry for the confusion.

Nice Face-Off, each has its merits and brings their own unique qualities to the the table as a Mrs. Kong.

I didn't expected Naomi Watts and cast to impress me in their roles, given how much I always liked the Jessica Lange et al. in King Kong (1976). But, in terms of overall excellence she gets the nod for me.

The question is an interesting one as posed, as well as, use of iconicness as the measure. I asked myself who I most associate with the role and found it much more difficult to answer than I thought it would be. It would be sacrilege to expand the pool beyond this triumvirate of Kong women.

For me, it's an immediate answer: Fay Wray: a/ she had the most iconic scream, b/ she belongs to the most iconic version of King Kong c/ the other actresses had more substantial movie roles and greater careers, can't we give that much to Fay Wray?

Iconic? Only one of these rates as in any way iconic, and that is the lady from the only iconic Kong movie.
Iconic is a word that seems to be used erroneously more than any other in IMDB polls.
Usually in the phrase: "which of these is the most iconic"
Something is either iconic or it isn't. One can't be more or less iconic any more than one can be more or less unique.
A better question could be: : "Which of these iconic figures/ movies/TV shows is..............?"
Ensuring also, that the choices given are indeed iconic, and not merely famous, memorable, recognisable, distinguished or celebrated.

"Most Iconic IS Fay Wray. If you are old that is."

Again, you can't have 'most iconic'. Fay Wray is the ONLY one of the three ladies to have become an iconic figure. Which is why you can still see commonly used, regardless of one's age, the famous photo, drawing, painting, poster of Fay Wray in the mighty hand of King Kong. A movie made in 1933.

THAT is an iconic image. It is why, regardless of age, we still have particular images of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis and others being used to advertise, promote and attract the masses. And you all know them.

Because they are iconic.

On the contrary. I gave a perfect example in my post.

Artistic license allows one to use language and it's meanings in a vague, ambiguous and nebulous fashion.
It does not give license to use words that mean one thing and then imply that they now mean something else because the writer is ignorant of the proper meaning.

Still a good poll tho! :)
