LIVE POLL: D-Day 2024 Face-Off: Twin Great Escape Movies

The first week of June 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France and the 10th anniversary of Bernie "The Great Escaper" Jordan's famed 2014 nursing home breakout from the Pines care home in Furze Hill, Hove, England to attend the 70th D-Day anniversary celebrations in Normandy, France. In honor of these dual related anniversaries,

Which of these two twin* movies featuring a "great escape" for a milestone D-Day celebration would you most want to see?

* Twin films are films with the same or similar plots produced and released at the same time by two different film studios. The phenomenon can result from two or more production companies investing in similar scripts at the same time, resulting in a race to distribute the films to audiences.

I'm still hoping The Great Escaper gets a release in Mexico, but so far, no luck.

@Pencho15, if it doesn't get a theater release this weekend outside of the U.K., I doubt it ever will. You can probably stream it though.

I am surprised both didn't get wider distribution. I think it would have been smarter, if 'The The Last Rifleman' (as the 2nd twin to be released) waited six months to release in late May 2024 to capitalize on the 80th anniversary. It did almost nothing at the box office being released a month after 'The Great Escaper'.

I saw all both, I agree with the IMDb ratings 'The Great Escaper' is a little better film, the last for Michael Cane and Glenda Jackson. But, 'The Last Rifleman' is a bit funnier, but still solid. It is always interesting to see how two writers and two directors interpret the same source material. It is amazing how similar these two films are and how differently they are at the same time. I am glad I saw both.
