Live Poll: Best Third Installment in Movie Franchise

Indy Jones 3, Iron Man 3, Skyfall, Goldfinger, MI 3

ROTK or IW for me.

Although there are already a lot of great movies to choose, it feels a bit odd that A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) is there, while Friday the 13th Part III (1982) is not: both movies saw those slasher franchises at their peak and some of the arguably best subgenre has to offer. 

1st: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
2nd: The Bourne Ultimatum
3rd: Before Midnight

Lord of the Rings all the way, but there are many excellent films here like Avengers, Thor 3, Star Wars, Dark Knight Rises, Logan, Captain America 3, Toy Story, Planet of the Apes, Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Harry Potter and more. Almost all the films in this list are great.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is not an instalment. It is simply a stand-alone film made by the director in the same format as his other 2 films that came before. The other two are sequels as they continue the same plot and character development even (the characters refer to scenes from the previous film even)
Let us not forget this is the spaghetti western era of film making they did a lot to cut corners back then, re-using the same format allowed them to make more films and thus get faster turn around in the box office.

In any case, my vote goes for Dark Knight Rises while there were many good choices there. DKR was my choice simply because I am a massive Nolan fan and what impressed me about Rises was that even after the absolute stellar performance of Dark Knight, Nolan and the actors and everyone else involved managed to go a step beyond and elevate it on so many levels. The film was more emotional and yet some of the craziest action sequences that have ever been made.
