I like the idea, but the IMDb Movie Top 250 changes daily. However, the top-tier of the top 25 movies is much more stable, but even then you see some movies riding the wave of their newness into the top 25 for a couple weeks, eventually working their way down to a more sustainable rank.

For what its worth, I would focus on the titles that are mainstays of that top tier and were in the same top tier 5 years ago and likely will be in the same top tier 5 years from now.
These two snapshots from June 1st, 2018 and June 1st, 2023 illustrate my point with about 30 MAINSTAY movies titles on both yearly Top 40 lists. IMHO, I think the unique spin you could give this poll suggestion is to focus on the most permanent residents of the IMDb Top 250. I would list only the movies that appear on both yearly snapshot lists and title it, Mainstay Movies of the IMDb Top 250. I think you will have a more accurate and lasting poll as result. Plus, it will actually have some criteria for selection, rather being a personal preference list or a random collection of movies.
Even then, it is likely that a genius director will make a once-in-a-lifetime masterwork sooner or later, so adding a caveat like; Which of these critically acclaimed, highly rated mainstay movies of the IMDb Top 250 (as of June 1, 2023) is your favorite?; probably is a good idea to future-proof your poll suggestion.

I removed the movies that weren't on both lists, so should make poll more accurate. Thanks.

Congratulations Marshall.

Now that your poll is live, please move this discussion thread from the idea to the praise category, where it will be with the rest of the published polls.

We're looking forward for more of your suggestions.
