Image result for bang the drum slowly
Good picks, I would probably go with Robert De Niro as Bruce Pearson in Bang the Drum Slowly (1973) (wasn't on list) for Major League Baseball's ultimate underdog. story.

"has the nastiest stuff on the mound" implies that you are asking only about pitchers.

Is that the case?

Yes, one poll is dedicated to pictures only, hence nastiest stuff question, further emphasized with on the mound for the baseball layman. Only elite pictures are known having pitches that are described by hitters as "nasty", the term is not used for fielders or hitters at all.

2019 marks the 150th anniversary of Major League Baseball and the 50th anniversary of the "Miracle Mets", one of the greatest upsets in World Series history. In honor of these dual anniversaries, we celebrate with two polls featuring the greatest fictional baseball hitters and pictures in movie or television history.

You mean "pitchers", not "pictures".

Shoeless Joe Jackson was a real-life baseball player. Joseph Jefferson Jackson (July 16, 1887 – December 5, 1951), nicknamed "Shoeless Joe", was an American star outfielder who played Major League Baseball from 1908 through 1920. He certainly is one the most iconic figures in the sport, but doesn't qualify for these fictional baseball polls.

All the baseball players in Field of Dreams (1989) that came from the cornfield were real-life players, the lone exception being Ray's father, John Kinsella. Your comment was helpful, as I realize now I mis-remembered the lone fictional player as Archie "Moonlight" Graham rather than correctly as John Kinsella.
Dwier Brown in Field of Dreams 1989
Archibald Wright "Moonlight" Graham
(November 12, 1876 – August 25, 1965) was an American professional baseball player and medical doctor who appeared as a right fielder in a single major league game for the New York Giants on June 29, 1905.

I corrected the error in the poll and resubmitted.

ESPN 30 FOR 30 Trailer “ Unhittable: Sidd Finch and the Tibetan Fastball” (2015)

Hayden "Sidd" Finch was part phenom, part yogi, and part recluse. The Harvard dropout spoke 10 languages, played the French horn, wore one hiking boot and threw the baseball 168 mph with pinpoint accuracy.

The subject of a Sports Illustrated cover story on 1 April 1985 entitled, The Curious Case of Sidd Finch and an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary, Unhittable: Sidd Finch and the Tibetan Fastball on 1 April 2015.

Joe E. Brown qualifies for both hitting and pitching lists with Elmer the Great (1933) and Alibi Ike (1935). The films may not be top-notch, but Brown deserves mention in the spirit of Lifetime Achievement awards.

Elmer "The Great" Kane

 Francis "Ike" Farrell

Yes, although the film are not well-seen by today's IMDb poll takers, they are probably of the two most notable entrants among 1930s films and early baseball films that use this plotline of a single player turning a team's fortunes seemingly out of nowwhere.
