E.T. or Alien.

Actually, score and soundtrack are two different things, so perhaps a better title would be:
Best Classic Sci-Fi Movie Score

Thank you for suggestion.

Title:
Listen To The 20 Best Sci-Fi Movie Orchestral Scores Of All Time

This article included both scores and soundtracks with the title suggesting only scores.

Title: The 20 Best Sci-fi Movie Soundtracks of All Time
http://www.tasteofcinema.com/2016/the-20-best-sci-fi-movie-soundtracks-of-all-time/

This article included both scores and soundtracks with the word "soundtrack" in title description.

Title: The best classical sci-fi movie soundtracks

This article included both scores and soundtracks with the word "soundtrack" in title description.

To be safe I decided to use both "score" and "soundtrack" in title, other online articles include scores and soundtracks their description without having both words, scores and soundtracks, in title.

The Star Wars (1977) is just so darn iconic, I'd imagine it being the winner. It'd definitely get my vote! Even many people who haven't seen the film I'm sure recognize its score.

I would go with the theme music from "Superman(1978)".

I have a question: Is this about the score, the soundtrack, or both? The title says "Score Soundtrack", but I'm not sure what that means. If you're just doing score, you'd have to remove 2001: A Space Odyssey, and if you're just doing soundtrack, you'd probably have to remove everything but 2001: A Space Odyssey. X'D

Also FYC: List the composer's name next to the movie.

Now for my vote(s)
First Choice: Jurassic Park by John Williams
2: Star Trek: The Motion Picture by Jerry Goldsmith
3. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial by John Williams
4. Star Wars (trilogy) by John Williams
5. Superman by John Williams
6. Batman by Danny Elfman

The top 3 were tough to decide on. I also don't know if I'd consider Superman, or especially Batman sci-fi. Those are more fantasy/action/adventure, and the superhero genre doesn't usually fit the sci-fi aesthetic for me. Maybe it's just a personal thing though, so don't worry about it too much.

Sounds good. If I can make one more suggestion in this instance, a "/" would help clarify that as well. So in this case, it'd be "Score/Soundtrack". It's more of a grammatical thing I suppose.

I hope that makes sense. Nice poll, I hope it goes live. :)

I will update the title with the /.  Thank you for suggestion.  Greatly appreciate it.

Still working on adding composer names and links.  Should be done by tomorrow.

'Great poll, LD! 'Tough choice because there are so many good ones: 'Love Blade Runner, love Star Wars and it's so iconic, and there are a few others in contention. Embarrassinly, I have never seen 'The Thing' but when I saw that Morricone did the music, that gave me yet another reason to see it: I have a feeling that if I heard that score, I might vote for that way.

I think I changed my vote to E.T.

Choosing between these scores is like choosing which of your children will get to survive. Not that I have children, but it's hard, man.

Congrats on the live poll! :)
