JFF: How Many Movies Have You Watched?

Me: Almost a thousand

I don't know. I guess that it must be not less than a thousand and not more than ten thousand. I recall that I've seen fewer than three dozen movies at the cinema, but I could probably derive a more accurate figure if I looked through my personal journal.

@jeorj_euler How interesting.
I usually love lists and stats.
My book list
My movie list
My podcast list
My daily schedule list
Monthly program list
If I'm going to do something, I can't do it without a list ((:

I understand that, and I have lists too, but they're not necessarily complete when it comes to certain kinds of subject matter.

@jeorj_euler  Yes, they are not complete about the subjects, for this I sometimes used the site ld📦 (I say the first and last name of site for private problems) , but it was not satisfactory.

10 Thousand is probably a fair number, especially depending on how old you are.

How is anyone going to be able to answer this, its not like you sre keeping a count.

@blueeyed Actually, I have an excel and all the movies and series that I have seen or will watch, franchises, lists that I have to comment or rate, movies and series that need a plot, the section to add images and everything else is in it. .
I think this question was easy for me, so far I have seen 987 movies and 83 series

If you have rated every film you've ever seen on IMDb, then you can easily find and track them.

Around 3.5k. This also includes walkouts and skipping (If I'm watching at home which I do almost all the time, I'll skip some scenes that I don't like or bore me). I'd rate a movie I've not watched completely.

That also counts for me. There are even some movies that make me upset about their dumbness or poor quality, which I quit after half an hour. These are the few movies that got a very low rating down to 1/10 from me. The most upsetting movies are sequels that totally screw it, like e.g. "Ghostrider 2". I did like the first movie, but the second was a dumb catastrophy for me.

There were many movies that I wanted to end sooner or leave half, or not see a part

But I never did that

From the problems of perfectionism😂

Well, there is also the matter of being late to a screening and not having the opportunity of a second screening, but that is more common in regards to turning on the television at a time when a given movie is already airing. I don't remember how many movies for which I've seen the ending but couldn't manage to see the whole thing. Also, some movies have inadvertently gotten the "bits and pieces" treatment from me, and often I fix it, but sometimes a movie just isn't available again.

@jeorj_euler Sometimes it happened that my family is watching a movie and I also watch that movie because I am in a group, but since I did not choose that movie myself, I do not categorize it among the movies I have seen, unless it is really an interesting movie.

LOL you sound like my friend who I used to review movies with in the mid 80's. He keeps a spreadsheet of all the movies he has watched too.

I didn't start reviewing movies until 2009 beginning with film school, so I never kept track of how many or what I watched before film school. Now I use IMDB to track those movies. But unfortunately, for some reason a few years ago, IMDB forgot a whole lot of movies I had rated and I'm not certain I've managed to re-rate those.

I don't mind rewatching movies multiple times if I like them or forgot I previously watched them, so not having a spreadsheet works well for me, except those times I've paid to watch a movie, gotten half way through and realized I not only had already watched it, but had decided I didn't like it, at the same place in the movie, the last time I watched it.

My ratings-counter is at 5133, but there also were TV-Series, TV-Shows, Short  films and Documentations in it. Considering the many movies I didn't voted before, because There wasn't any IMDb and I don't remember, because especially in youth there were many trashy movies, I'd guess them around 5000 movies. (eventually +1000)

I don't know if you knew it, but there is a site where you can find the best movies in Top 250 Lists of the last years. I'm sure you can find some of them on Amazon Prime, sometimes. If you are interested just klick the different Top 250 lists of several years and find your joy. The are 17 years of Top 250 to discover and get badges for your ratings at them. I saw all of them I rated. That's the cause why I don't have all badges, because I have no access to some of the movies, so I didn't rate them. That's up to 5 or six for each later list I didn't complete watching. ;D

The badge site (IMDb)

P.S.: That also shows the spread of the movies in the past times.

Some movie sites are very interesting and have good lists.

But this is how I choose a movie

If it has more than 150 million sales

If it is a valid award winner

If it is liked by many people

Highly rated by critics or on imdb

Or a specific topic that I like

Whatever it is, it will be included in the list.

For example, I watch the movie A, I examine all the movies of the director and the actors and add the selected ones to the list.

Yeah, plus it may be hard for a man to account for movies he saw when he was three or four years old and may not know (or may not remember knowing) the titles thereof. Back before home releases of theatrical movies, people would have to rely upon old ticket stubs that were kept and collected, thus without the option of going through their or their parents' household library of VHS cassettes, laser discs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs. As for television airings of movies, there is no easy way to be reminded of movie that was seen just once at an early age, unless the seen more than once or if it was just all too memorable.

@jeorj_euler I generally don't use the movies and series I saw in my childhood(for rate), except for the ones that have remained in my mind for example: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I vote for every single movie I see, so currently the count is 2849.

There is the small problem that I have not rated all the movies I saw as a kid or before I settled for a rating system, which I'm not sure but could have been around 2010. So we can easily add another 500-1000 seen before that.

@Pencho15 I also try to rate every movie I see, but I haven't voted for all my movies yet, but I have all the movies, series, list and other details in an Excel file and I always update it.

It has occurred to me that I've probably seen a small few movies that aren't even documented on IMDb, and I've been in just too much of a down mood to even consider bothering to create new IMDb title pages for them.

But I haven't added it to my list yet

Hard to say, never thought about it. A few hundred for sure. Recently I was looking for a reliable and convenient site for watching movies and TV series without paid subscriptions. Finally, found a great resource, which, in my experience, fits these criteria - soap 2 day . This site has a huge collection of movies and TV series in good quality, and the best part is that it is absolutely free and does not require registration. I have already watched a few movies on it, and I can say that my impressions are positive. The interface is convenient, there are no annoying ads, and the choice of content will please any movie lover. Of course, I recommend checking it out for yourself, but from my experience - this is one of the best options for a free online movie theater.

How many movies have I watched?

I'm guessing I've watched several thousand.

As a filmmaker I consistent watch movies, since it helps stimulate my creative.

During film school I had to watch multiple movies and present my reviews for discussion.

I've rated 542 reviews as of today on IMDB since 2009.

I started reviewing movies with another person around 1985.

16-17,000, not counting the Am. TV movies circa 1969-78. And another 1,000 TV episodes...

/J, Sweden

PS. I've only rated some 75% of all those movies so far.
