Thanks @Peter_pbn

We are looking into this.  In the meantime, the inaccurate credits have been removed.

I'm not sure if @Peter_pbn added the links to the other threads in his post after you wrote that, but some of the vandalism reported in those older threads (some of which was reported months ago) remains even as I type this.

Take this one, for example. Reported three months ago, and the vandalism remains today:

Other recent vandalism involving voice acting on animated films, discussed in a now-deleted Sprinklr post:

Fake Credits - Please Help

There is someone who is inserting Lili Beaudoin into assorted works she's never been in (primarily anime, which she generally does not work in), listed in roles she did not play and that are already correctly credited. Please find out who this contributor is and put a stop to this, reversing their input as well. Thank you.

For context, here are the roles she actually played. Listing her in PokemonCode GeassSword Art Online, etc. is blatantly false.

Another thread: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/nearly-100-fake-credits-added-to-page/6309954b72837f15dbbe2f7f?commentId=630d08f172837f15dbbec133

@tormented 's reply there has good info. Like he stated there and I did in one of previous threads, "Jack Angel" is one of many names this vandal is obsessed with. These persistent vandals often do not only vandalize IMDb, they are often active on Wikipedia too. For example, if you check the history of Jack Angel's wikipedia page here, you can see they protected the page several times for "Persistent vandalism"

Following these crumbs often leads to more discoveries of vandalised pages on IMDb too. Since we can't trace things like this on IMDb and the staff is mostly unwilling to do it as well, using Wikipedia histories helps to track in some way when the vandals are vandalising both places.

See this IP range blocked by Wikipedia for 1 year for example. It can be seen from the edits clearly, it's surely the same person who's responsible for all the mess here on IMDb too. They promptly blocked it for 1 year, and most or all of his vandalism edits were already reverted. While same things were being reported here for months with no actual solution from IMDb (until it goes to the press).

@mbmb You have a better handle on this than anyone. Do you think the vandalism on artist, voice acting, and puppeteering credits are all related? They do all involve animation....

I see the IMDb staff are getting some flak in the Twitter thread that @Peter_pbn linked to for not reining in the problem.

@keyword_expert I think voice and puppeteering credits are related. Style of them is almost same anyway (usage of uncredited attribute, style of character names like "Additional Muppet Performer" vs "additional voices"), on the above IP edits there are "muppet" titles too along with voice acting edits which I think gives it away that it's the job of same person.

@mbmb So weird that anybody would waste their time and everyone else's time with this digital vandalism. Some people are just sick in the head, I guess.

@keyword_expert And people were asking @Nomissimon10 to make his bots public. Think about all the lazy vandals out there having these bots in their hands :)

@mbmb I shudder to think. I would not be surprised at all if the animation vandal(s) are already using their own bots or similar tools.
