IMDbPro Connections and Endorsements are here

IMDbPro Connections and Endorsements are here

The entertainment industry runs on relationships that start on set, on stage, and with the crew in the credits. Today we're launching two new features that turn your credits into a professional network and your peers into verified references, right where the industry researches talent.

Here's what's new:

Connections Send connection requests to the professionals you've worked with, met at an industry event, or discovered on IMDbPro, whether or not you share credits. Both people agree to connect before a connection is formed, and you manage your own privacy settings throughout. Your new Connections tab brings together your pending requests, current connections, recommendations based on shared credits and mutual connections, and your privacy settings in one place.

Endorsements Once you're connected, you and your connections can vouch for each other's work. Write a reference in your own words, tag relevant credits and professions, and submit for the page owner to approve. Approved endorsements publish to their About tab, visible to anyone viewing their profile. A badge on the Name page hero section shows how many endorsements a member has received, and tagged credits show a badge with the number of endorsements that reference that credit.

You're always in control Every endorsement requires the page owner's approval before it goes live. You decide what appears on your page, and you can manage, edit, or remove connections and endorsements at any time. Your Written Endorsements page, linked from your own Connections tab, lets you track the status of every endorsement you've written in one place.

Your credits tell the story. Your connections confirm it. Get started today by visiting any IMDbPro Name page and selecting Connect.

For more information, please refer to our guide.

As you have the opportunity to use Connections and Endorsements, please share your thoughts here. Your feedback matters, and your input helps us make IMDbPro the essential resource for entertainment industry professionals.

Thank you!

Is this visible for fans and not in-logged people also?

Or  is it only visible on IMDbPro pages?

Is there any difference in function/visibility for IMDbPro Premium and IMDbPro Basic users?

Hi @Kristin,

Thanks for your reply.

Connections and Endorsements are only visible on IMDbPro Name pages.

In regards to function/visibility for different IMDbPro subscribers, all members can receive connection requests. IMDbPro Basic members can send connection requests to professionals they share credits with. IMDbPro Premium members can send connection requests to any eligible IMDbPro member, whether or not they share credits.

You can find more information in our guide.

I hope this helps!

Is the old Connections tab functionality now sacrificed for this? As an industry professional, I do not pay my membership fee for a social media site.

Did this new "Connections and Endorsement" social media functionality announced today really just replace the old Connections tab?! As of right now, I see no shared Connections with anybody on the site... As a long-time IMDb Pro subscriber and daily user, I could not be more disappointed if that's the case. We have dozens of crap social media sites like LinkedIn and Facebook where we can send these cute little meaningless 'friend requests' but the original IMDb Pro Connections had such fantastic functionality. Will we really no longer be able to see what industry professionals we have in common with others based on our credits? Is this site really tanking so hard that they have to resort to copying facespace and other garbage? This will be a major loss if that's what they're doing. Potentially cancel-worthy. Someone walk me back from this ledge...

Hi @twistachoo

Thanks for your reply. All data in the old Connections tab is still preserved. Under someone's Connections tab, you will see others you share credits with under the "People you may know" section on the page which is the same list of people as before. This is listed separately from the "Mutual Connections" section to distinguish who you've actively connected to and who you have credits in common but not have connected yet.

Please let us know if you have any additional feedback!

Does anyone know what happened to the Connections part of IMDb Pro?  I used to love seeing how many connections I had with other actors, but now it only shows me people I have been in movies with. Otherwise I get "No shared connections information available." This has been going on for over a week.

@darylhrdlicka Please the main announcement post at the top of this thread and the reply from wolverine15 immediately above at https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbprocom/imdbpro-connections-and-endorsements-are-here/6acfa71749af2ebd133ea0c9?commentId=6ad0903949af2ebd134eef02&replyId=6ad10cc549af2ebd13570928

If this does not explain the problem, please provide more details, ideally with 2 or 3 example links so we can investigate.

Hope this helps

@Col_Needham Thank you. I searched for "Connections" and didn't see a thread, so I started a new one.

@darylhrdlicka No problem; does that explain everything or are there still issues with the connections feature?

@Col_Needham It explains it, but it's not something I really like.  C'est la vie.

@darylhrdlicka As explained by wolverine15, nothing has supposed to have been removed so do you have examples of what is missing?

@Col_Needham I went to the page of a person I've worked with. Clicking on actors from some of his movies (pro accounts), about half will show that we have him in common, while the other half comes up with "No shared connections information available." It seems to be random.

@darylhrdlicka  Thanks -- this does sound like a bug.  Please could provide an example link or two of names which work and the same for names which do not work?  [ideally provide IMDbPro links for those name pages]

I've worked with Jeff Hamm, and his page shows our shared titles.
https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm8160826/?q=jeff%2520hamm&ref_=hm_instant_nme_1

If I click on his movie Pickleball (which I was not in) and click on Keven P. Farley (https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0267659/?ref_=ttovr_cst_t_2), it doesn't show Jeff as a connection, but does show a composer we have in common,  Erick Schroder (https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm3400001/?ref_=nmcnct_other_nmconn_1). If I go back to Pickleball and click on Laynee Busse (https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm2151282/?ref_=ttovr_cst_t_5), it says we have no connection.

This happens on Firefox and Chrome.  It also only shows me the projects I've done with the person (the 5 titles with Erick Schroder) but not the two titles Erick has done with Kevin P. Farley

@darylhrdlicka Thanks; we have passed this along to the appropriate team.

@Col_Needham I'm still having issues with other accounts, where the "No shared connections information available." is showing up. I've been in a movie with Tony Todd (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0865302/) and it confirms the shared title.  But he was in "The Crow" with Brandon Lee (https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0000488/connections/?ref_=nmovr) which is still giving me the No Shared Message. I'm running across it more often than not.  In addition, it's still not showing me the movies my connection has in common with the other person (from my earlier example, it now shows that I have 2 people in common with Laynee Busse, but only shows me the movies I've been in with those two people, not the movies my connections have done with her)

@darylhrdlicka The team are still working on this issue, sorry.  The good news is that a solution has been built and is being reviewed so it should not be too long now.

Same thing happening for me, I will see "54 mutual connections" with Thomas Jane for example, or "75 mutual connections" with Dylan Baker, but when I click those blue links showing how many mutual connections I have it goes to the Connections tab with a message saying, "No shared connections information available."

@DTMLA thank you for your report. Can you let us know if you are seeing the issue on the desktop browser or on the IMDbPro app?

@wolverine15 It was on my desktop.  When I tried the app, it was working fine for a while, but now it's giving the same error.

@wolverine15 In my case it is an issue on both.

I do see that if I click somebody I have worked with on a project before and we share credits for a title that there is no "mutual connections" link even though we would share several people, but when I click on "connections" tab on their page It does show me one person we shared a credit with, tho not others.

Thank you for the additional information and patience on the issue. We are working on a fix for displaying the project collaborators in the connections tab and will provide updates. We are also working on a fix for the incorrect data display for number of mutual connections in the hero section - for app specific fixes, these will be included as part of our next app release.
