Top 250 movie ranking changes
Ive noticed that the movie rankings on the top 250 have gone through some big changes. Movies have gone up and down places, even some moving 8 places. I was wondering why such a drastic change has occurred? An explanation would be great, thanks

Hi there @Leestoy00 ,
Our voting system is constantly being improved and the formulas used to calculate the ratings and charts are tweaked regularly in order to improve our ability to detect and defeat ballot stuffing and other attempts to influence the results.Weighted ratings are frequently recalculated, so when the formula is changed, the ratings may also change even without the addition of many votes. The changes you are seeing are normal and result from this periodic fine tuning of the weighing mechanism

Today an incredible number of movies changed its ratings on IMDb. For instance, in a list that I have with 2046 movies with ratings over 7.0, 61 of them changed to 6.9.
What, in the name of God, is happening?

Many movies have seemingly simultaneously changed in rating recently. Why is this?
Notably, during the last week (at most) the first two films of The Dark Knight trilogy went up by 0.1 each; the entire Sam Raimi Spider-man trilogy went up by 0.1 each; The Avengers and Avengers: Infinity War also went up by 0.1; Interstellar did the same; the entire The Lord of the Rings trilogy; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey; the Back to the Future trilogy, Jurassic Park, etc... all in the past couple of days. How is this possible?

Star Trek: The Next Generation episode ratings are something I have checked regularly every week or so. They have been fairly consistent for years, with movement +/- 0.1 stars for an episode every now and then.
In the last few days, nearly ALL episodes in the 8.x or higher group have dropped down 0.1 stars simultaneously.
Please investigate.

I was browsing the new Simpsons IMDB episodes and I noticed all of a sudden the ratings different from the last time I checked. I then went searching and found that all of a sudden Season 32 and Season 33 are about -0.3 stars less than what they were last week Monday.
I only have limited proof but see below. Anybody who has been collecting Simpsons IMDB ratings would probably have more proof as well.
https://www.neetcoder.com/app/graph/tt0096697/The%20Simpsons
Using this website you can see all of the Simpsons episodes, you can see serious Flanders part 2 was a 8.6 but now it’s an 8.3. Another example is The Last Barfighter dropping from 7.7 to 7.4
I know imdb uses a weighted average but I don’t see how this can explain all of a sudden the past 2 seasons dropping consistently by 0.3 stars but not the others.
