Not getting "Watchlisted Shows on Tonight" notification emails

In the account section for IMDb Subscription Emails and Newsletters, I checked this a week ago:


Watchlisted Shows on Tonight - When a show from your Watchlist is airing, we will send you a short message.

I have never gotten a single notification, although several of the shows I Watchlisted have been on since then. Does this just not work, or is there some other hidden setting that needs to be fixed before it works?

Hello,

During the past few days I've noticed that the IMDB Watchlist Email Notification feature is notifying me of some, but not all of the TV series on my Watchlist for a given day.

I do not have a second IMDB account, so I only have ONE Watchlist.

Before post this help request I verified that the shows that went missing from recent notifications are, and have been for a long time, on my Watchlist.

My only guess is that either the index files of the Watchlist feature on my account or/and including accounts of others, have become corrupted and need to be regenerated / reindexed, OR the Watchlist feature has a cap of a maximum items in any given notification / day, and additional items are ignored. If it is a policy issue rather than a technical problem, there is nothing in the IMDB information that says there are limits.

In fact, the only information I could find on potential limitations is the IMDB Watchlist statement:

"Never miss an episode. Add your favorite shows to your Watchlist and we’ll remind you when they're available."

This statement implies everything on a Watchlist will be included in email notifications in context with IMDB published broadcast / release dates, which in my case is currently not true. So, I'm thinking it's likely a technical issue.

If there is something I can do to resolve this issue - a setting or switch for example, please tell me what to do. Otherwise, please notify the relevant parties about this issue so that the system can be corrected.

It's now been OVER HALF A YEAR since this thread was created and an IMDb representative acknowledged the issue and said the need for a fix was forwarded to somebody, somewhere.  But not a word about progress or announcement of a solution.

In the meantime I'm STILL receiving incomplete Watchlist notifications.  The problem is either being ignored, in line waiting to be attended to, or the solution / problem is so complex nobody's been able to come up with a functioning stable fix. But communicating status of fixes to us who are affected by the defect is not high on the priority list of IMDb leadership, apparently.

Whatever the case may be, it seems like flagrantly FALSE advertising when EACH Watchlist email contains the UNTRUE STATEMENT FROM IMDb:

"Add your favorite shows to your Watchlist and we’ll remind you when they're available."

Yo IMDb, don't you think at the very least you should remove that lie from your notification emails UNTIL you actually solve the issue?  I wonder how many other people are relying on such blatantly false statements.  I also wonder how many other false claims from IMDb might be peppered across this website.

I love this website, but I'd love it a lot more if the powers-that-be would be honest.  Nothing's perfect. So please don't pretend to be perfect until you're much closer to the summit of that mountain.

Patiently waiting for a solution (or at least an update to finding a solution) to the KNOWN defective Watchlist notification problem).

Hey, the issue was fixed for awhile, but I can confirm it's on the glitch again.

No e-mail at all on June 22.

On July 1, I did receive an e-mail that was 'The Best Things to Watch in July, "The Terminal List" Q&A, and More' but no watchlist notification whatsoever.

Looking back, also realized I didn't receive a notification on July 1 for https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190634/episodes?ref_=tt_eps_sm

I have received notifications for a couple of other shows on July 4 and 5, if that helps at all.

I did not receive a notification for the most recent episode.

In both cases, I received no emails at all from IMDB.

In my account (which i have had for  over 10 years) within the email preferences i have selected the "Watchlisted Shows on Tonight" and all the other emails. Since the start of the year the emails have been sporadic. For example i will not get notification of the new season of show being aired till the fifth episode is broadcasts. This has got to the point where i am no longer getting any notifications or any other  emails in my preference list. Please could you resolve this asap.

My email preferences show all the email selections have been ticked and with regards to receiving IMDb emails I have an email rule that automatically marks them as not junk and pushes them to my IMDB email folder in outlook.

I used to receive an email once a week, usually on friday nights, concerning my WatchList, and including some articles related to it also. 

I haven't received it for the last 2 weeks. I didn't changed a thing on my settings, my email adress is still valid for example.

That is in fact a notification email for a movie - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9471404/. Please note it's not a daily listings email if there no shows on that day. Can you please confirm if you mean TV notification emails?

Can you also please provide the specific TV shows in which you expect a TV watchlist notification email, but did not receive? 

Regarding your comment about getting an email claiming, in ERROR, that one of the movies on your list was being shown in your local area, this was for movie - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245429/. Which looks like it was part of Ghibli Fest 2022 for 10/30-11/2. That movie is in your watchlist.

@Edward​ yes, as stated in the title of this thread and many times throughout, it is *TV* listings emails that I should be getting and I'm not getting. I have so many shows selected that I should be getting a TV listings email every day, but instead I am getting ZERO TV listings emails.

Gilmore girls is on the list and is shown every day, and so should be part of a daily email notification. Star Trek the Next Generation and Touched by an Angel are on every weekday. Something that is on frequently but less often is Doctor Who. Twilight Zone is another in that category. Something that is on a couple of times a week is The Chosen. Rest assured that shows are being broadcast every single day that are on my listings here and that I should've got notification about. I should be getting a TV listings notification email every single day, and I am NEVER getting one. Thanks!

@Edward​ I got a PARTIAL notification email this evening. It correctly showed that The Good Doctor is on tonight, but it did NOT show that Star Trek the Next Generation is ALSO on tonight.  

Now that some progress is being made, it would also be really helpful to know exactly what timeframe the notifications are supposed to cover, in other words, from what time to what time do the notifications consider "tonight"? Does "tonight" start at 6 PM and end at midnight? Thanks!

In my case, everything is the same.

However, I did change my region to the U.S. to see if that helps weed out bugs and see if I start getting the alerts again.

Will update. Have a show scheduled for release on the second.

This worked perfectly around 4 months ago. But now I don't get emails, when new series on my list, is aired. 

So I need to manually check every time. 

I have been checking my settings and I should get an email whenever a new episode is out.

@Edward​ I checked and it is all checked.

"Watchedlisted shows on Tonight" is checked and should give a notification of shows coming in my email. I had no issues around 5 months ago, I got an email almost every time a show aired that evening, but I do not recieve any now. I have also tried unchecking it and checking it on again and saved with no solution.

I get mails from Imdb about new releases and news. 
The only ones I do not get anymore, is the mails of the shows I got on my list.

Having switched my region to US, I did get a notification for The Peripheral today.... 1st time for this series in the last month plus.

Will keep an eye out.
