Lists: Add own images as movie posters on private lists
This is a suggestion for a feature:I have created a private list of my own movie collection, and one thing that annoys me is that sometimes a movie poster doesn't correspond to the movie I own. For example, I've got Monsters, Inc, and when adding that movie to my list I get the poster for Monsters, Inc 3D instead. Or the movie poster doesn't correspond to the one on my DVD- or Blu-ray case. And some smaller films and series doesn't have a poster at all.I would like to see the ability to add own images as movie posters on private lists, only visible for myself when logged in and viewing my list, and not for others of course.

Although this will not satisfy all of your needs here are two possible alternatives:
1. Save the images on a file sharing site and provide a link to it in your list.
See "Frequently Asked Questions about Lists" [http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?li... ] for details.
2. Instead of a Title list, created an Image list. Here is an example that I created to answer a question from another user. Unfortunately, you can only use images already available on IMDb.

I'm not sure if an image list would work in my case. What I would like is to be able to see my uploaded "alternative posters" when browsing my film list, and most importantly in the list mode.

Unfortunately, this'd require IMDB to install a mechanism to stop such lists from being made public.
Unfortunately, IMDB can't pass off the responsibility like that - if there are problems it is IMDB's lawyers who'd be getting the cease and desist letters. Given the fact that some users wouldn't understand the importance of the checkbox (you'd be surprised how many new submitters don't bother reading the warnings and just click the checkbox and move on) and some wouldn't care, so it is inevitable this could quickly become a pain in the ass for IMDB for no real benefit.
I'm afraid the only way to do this would be to export the list and import it into a spreadsheet or database program and do what you want there.

I wouldn't consider myself a programming expert in any way, but I don't think such a filter would be rocket science to program, so that it's only the logged in user that have created the list that sees the custom movie posters. Or that they are visible only as long as the list is tagged private.
It's just so annoying to see some blank default-images here and there in a personal movie list (where the filmmaker haven't bothered to upload any movie-poster), or a complete different movie-poster than the one on my blu-ray cover.

Welllll, while it isn't possible to fix everything, but with an image list, you can pick the covers for the home media releases you have - if they don't have the Blu-ray cover you own, then if it is listed on Amazon but the image isn't on here staff can get it included. No guarantees on that, but at least it reduces the number of blank panels you'd have. I'm not 100% sure of the mechanics of doing this (as we've not done it) but see the reply from the staff member here:

Off topic but: I just can't find "My Lists" in the IMDb Adroid app. Is this feature excluded in the Android app? In the iOS app I can find the "My List" function.
