storyline /synopsis needs to be top of page because when you looking for a movie name that is ambiguous the only way to determine if you found the right entry is to read storyline.  Now I have to scroll to find section and it is annoying so much wasted space.

I hate this new version. It takes up way too much space.

I don’t like the way the cast is displayed with mini pics. I preferred the list aspect.

Bring back the old version!

Is there any way you'll let your users use the old site design? I'll probably stop using the site if there won't be that option.

Suppose I buy a DVD and want to add it to one of my existing IMDB lists, most of which I have created to represent different criteria.  So I open up IMDB and type in the name of the movie and the page opens up. I used to be able to click on the little checkmark or + sign, whatever, that was in the upper left-hand corner, and, lo and behold, I may have found that I already had this title listed on three of my lists, which, in short, means that I already owned it! Since I have almost 5000 movies in my home library, I often forget which ones I already have so I sometimes purchase movies somewhere that I already own but don't remember. Now I may be faced with the decision of whether to keep duplicates, dispose of the movie, or do something else with it. The only problem I have now is that I have no simple way of discovering if a new movie is already included on one or more of my lists, since the little checkmark or + sign does not appear in the new and improved(?) version. Maybe I just am not knowledgeable enough about how to get around in IMDB, but I haven't been able to reconcile the new revision to suit my purpose.

Can any member help me with this or am I just SOL?

RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH.

It looks like it has been designed for Kids, by Kids (sorry kids but IMDB is for grown ups).

FAR TOO MUCH WHITE SPACE.

How do I get back the Original design?

What I particularly like about this thread is the bizarre yet entertaining idea that all the requested info users now can't find is still there, somewhere on the new page. Congratulations, it's now in a new hiding place. Having the info but hiding it is NOT an accomplishment. Ah yes, how terribly Microsoftean. But an accessible info page IS an accomplishment . . . or at least it was before it succumbed to progress.

The second funniest thing is the notion that one can expect complaints from luddites when anything new happens. Much like Europeans complained when the Black Death appeared in 1346. Pretty cutting-edge, those plagues; but they're just progress, right? You'll learn to love it!

You EXPECT them to be negative? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?? Did you think about that before you wrote it? IMDB ***expected*** negative comments on the redesign? Boy, I'd be pretty angry with my designers and programmers if all these negative comments showed up. If I'd asked for the design, I would have TESTED it with some users BEFORE rolling it out to everyone.

@ApplePie Yes, please see the links I provided earlier for more context.  In any redesign (on any site) pretty much the only people motivated to comment are those who object to the change -- there's both selection bias and confirmation bias in-play here.  From one of the earlier links:

The reactions we are seeing to the 2021 redesign are identical, sometimes almost word-for-word, to the reactions we saw to the 1995, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2010 major redesigns. Yet without those redesigns IMDb would not be what it is today (as I noted in my earlier reply we prefer to avoid major redesigns, so as you can see from that sequence of years, we have been improving).  Yes, the very design which people on this thread are now saying was perfect was once derided as the worst thing in the history of the web.  Was it the worst thing or was it just that people generally need time to appreciate change?

The design was created in collaboration with customers. It was tested with customers, and it has been promoted as an opt-in beta at the top of every IMDb title page for the last six months.

Hope this helps.

Just out of curiosity, do you have numbers for what proportion of PC based regular users opted out of the new design while they were able to?

@ACT_1 , How does that answer @roomtone's question?  You keep pasting links and statistics without actually explaining what it is you're trying to say...

The layout for IMDB pages recently changed.

Everything is much bigger, less information fits on the screen, and it now takes way to long to scroll down to get to the information I want to read.

The new layout makes the site unusable for me.

How can I get the old layout back???

Thanks!

I join the many folks here who find the new page hideous. Absolutely awful. Horrible. POS. Trying to fix something that was not even cracked let alone broken. Please go back to the real IMBD and remove this alien pod version.

I join the many folks here who think this new page, if that's what you want to call it, is absolutely hideous. Horrible. POS of great extremity. Unbelievably bad. To call it garbage would be to insult garbage. Bring back the real IMDB instead of this alien pod substitution.

The new Movie title line is a Major issue for me!

For years, when gathering information on a movie title, the old gui allows Highlight of "move title (YYYY)" which include the year released in parentheses.  Please bring this back. It was easy to copy and paste to other tools. For example, The Movie database always matches properly, e.g. School of Rock (2003), before easy highlight, copy / paste because the Year was included to the right of the title. Now manual re-creation of the pasted Movie title is easily mis-typed since Year is on another line and cannot be highlighted along with the Movie title line.

Just the ONE feature would be so helpful if it could be brought back.

Thanks for listening to an avid fan of IMDb!

The new layout and design is not an improvement. Before I could easily Rate and Add To List. Now they are separated. Please go back to the previous version. See all the comments. Everyone hates this new design including me.

Please make an option to keep previous design which was better for desktop screens. I don't want to use a "mobile app design" on a desktop screen. Apparently web designers don't know how to make web pages any more.

This new Redesign is absolutely horrible. It's really just awful. After this Redesign, I don't think I'll be coming back to this website. Very disappointing.

This new design is really horrible. You can't find anything. It takes you longer to figure out how to find stuff. I really HATE this new design. I want the old one back.
