IMDb Introduces Watched (Formerly Known as Seen)
We’re excited to introduce the new Watched feature, an updated version of the former Seen feature. You can now catalog the movies and TV shows you’ve watched by clicking “Mark as watched” on title pages, your Watchlist, IMDb Charts, and Lists. We have added visual progress bars on IMDb Chart pages (e.g. IMDb Top 250 Movies) to help you keep track of your watched progress for the most popular and highly rated titles across IMDb’s global audience. This feature is available on IMDb's website today, and we'll be adding it to our mobile apps soon as well. We’ve also made it easier to automatically catalog what you’ve watched by logging any movie or TV show that you’ve Rated, Reviewed, or Checked-In as one you’ve watched as well. These movies and TV shows, as well as any you’ve directly marked as “Watched”, will be listed on “Your watch history” page. As part of the rollout of the new Watched feature, we will be deprecating legacy Seen pages - “How much have you seen?” for Names, TV series, and select lists from User Polls - as we update to new technology and design. To provide an interim solution, customers trying to access any legacy Seen widgets or URLs (i.e. “How much have you seen?” on Name, TV series, and select lists from User Poll pages) will be redirected to a filtered Advanced Title Search results page displaying titles they have rated that is tied to a Name or TV series. We plan to add “Watched” filters to the Advanced Title Search experience as a future enhancement, so you can filter for titles you have marked as “Watched” in your search queries across IMDb’s expansive database. For more details about the new Watched feature, please review our Help article: https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/new-features-updates/mark-as-watched-faq/GR2SD7Y4LZVNHUVH We hope you'll enjoy these enhancements as we continue our mission to improve your experience. Your feedback is invaluable to us – we encourage you to share your thoughts and questions in this thread. Thank you for being part of the IMDb community and for your continued support in making IMDb the go-to destination for entertainment enthusiasts worldwide. — The IMDb Team

Hi! Just a few minutes ago I've noticed this update when I was trying to use the "How much have you rated?" feature for an actor. I must say that that was one of my favorite features when it comes to checking the amount of titles I've rated, especially the counter and percentage on the corner. It's just my opinion but I would be very grateful if it were still possible to at least have that "You Have Seen... 156/313 (49%)" part in the new Advanced Title Search, or at least leave a "Switch to previous version" option. I wouldn't be commenting this if I didn't use the feature almost daily, and I already miss it a lot. Thank you

this is great feature, that finally comes to IMDb ! One thing you should add, is for TV series, to be able to mark, how much episodes and seasons we've watched. So we can better track our TV shows

Hi I think this is a great feature in general but I'll really miss how clean and compact the Seen pages were for tracking your progress through a series. One page listing every episode of every season and with a percentage tracker in the top right corner. It was so useful. Any chance we could get something like that back again?

Having learned years ago I could create a page like the one below for Futurama https://www.imdb.com/seen/tt0149460/?ref_=bd_tv I would get a complete list of all episodes in the series, displaying an either empty or filled star indicating whether I had seen that particular episode. When I connect to that URL now, all I get is a "Advanced Title Search" page with "Futurama" a key word as well as the phrase "Restrict to titles I've rated" in a completed search. Links to "seen" lists are re-directed to Advanced title search "No results found" pages. Instead they should be re-directed to their "lists" page where the "watched" feature exists. Example: https://www.imdb.com/seen/ls597182767/ should lead to https://www.imdb.com/list/ls597182767/

Is there going to be a way to export the entries from the Watch History? With the prior 'Seen' version you could at least save the webpage, but now that doesn't work as the saved page clips at 250 entries regardless of how much you've scrolled down (e.g., to 1000 entries). Something like the ratings CSV download would be better of course. Also, the online list seems to just end at 2500 entries, even if you have 'watched' more than that. So see my oldest marked films I have to reverse the sort order or otherwise they're just hidden. As someone who used the 'Seen' features a lot, I look forward to them all being replicated in future. Thanks.

I'm perplexed by this latest change. I started using 'How many Episodes Have you seen?' for TV series some time ago. This included the number of episodes seen and as a percentage next to it. This appears to have vanished now. You appear to have transferred the data I'd entered to the new Watched feature but I can't find a page for a TV series that shows me what I've watched of that series without going into each individual episode.

Where have all the 'Seen' checklist webpages gone at IMDb.com, as of the beginning of April 2025? The 'seen' webpage is a handy checklist of roles by an actor, etc. I have used this facility, for several actors/directors/etc., for some time. So its disappearance is a pain! This flaw/fault has only occurred as of Wed 2 April 2025, as the day before that there was no problem with these 'Seen' webpages i.e. they WERE all viewable. This is what happens if I type a URL into the URL bar in a Web browser: The 'seen' webpage has disappeared! i.e. that 'Seen' webpage is now invisible/removed. The URL of a 'seen' webpage has strangely changed!! As if I type in the URL, the webpage should go to the 'Seen' webpage, BUT INSTEAD it auto-switches(!!) to a completely different URL that IS regarding that actor etc. but is NOT the 'Seen' webpage. These disappearances have happened to ALL the 'seen' URLs I have used at IMDb.com. And a few new ones I have now tried to access, to see if they work. Sadly they are also invisible. As an example: This is one example of what happens in the flaw of the missing 'Seen' webpage. This is the data I NOW see re the actor George Cole: If I type into the bar at the top of a browser page the URL I am looking for [www.imdb.com/seen/nm0170552/?ref_=nm_se_sm], then once I hit enter the URL now just auto-switches to THIS URL: Advanced title search With George Cole, Restrict to titles I've rated (Sorted by Popularity Ascending) (https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?role=nm0170552&my_ratings=restrict) Obviously, this 'Advanced title search' webpage is not the 'Seen' webpage I am looking for! I have also had a friend access THEIR IMDb account, to see if that account shows any 'Seen' webpages, but that account has the same flaw as my own account!! Ditto I have tried accessing the 'Seen' wepages on a different computer - and on a different brand of web browser (Microsoft Edge, rather than Google Chrome). But these also had the same flaw. :-( Is IMDb making some changes to their websites? i.e. is this a glitch that will be rectified in a few days? If so: I would have expected there to be a 'recent flaws' help page at IMDb, re such matters that IMDb could say were being looked into. Ha-ha, though, chance would be a fine thing! ,-) Any help is appreciated! Thanks to the IMDb team for the newly added "Watched" feature. I wanted to share a few suggestions that could help improve the experience, especially for series: 1) Add a "Watched" button on the Episode List page: Currently, there's no quick way to mark episodes as watched directly from the episode list page. Adding this would make it much more convenient. 2) Add "Mark All as Watched" button for each season: This would be especially useful for users who’ve already seen an entire season and want to update their watch history quickly. Also, in my opinion, the current "Episode List" page isn't very practical. Now that the "Watched" feature exists, it would be great to display all seasons and episodes in an expandable list directly on the main page (under the hero section), just a simple list with episode names with "Watched" and "Rate" next to it. This would allow us to easily mark episodes as watched or rate without needing to navigate to a separate page.
