Why only 5.000 votes?

1. The Top 250 series is years newer than the movie list.
2. Generally, television series get fewer votes than movies.

3. No one is forcing you to watch the entire Top 250 list.

A smaller vote floor brings a more diverse and actually interesting group of television series.

As long as it has enough votes to guarantee that different people has seen it and rated it high, I am ok with them being on the list, and I actually preffer a lower threshold as that way the list allows you to discover less seen but good series that otherwise would be forgotten, I'm ok with the 5,000 votes limit as it avoids the list being taken only by new popular series.

I remember when the threshold for movies was taken up, there was a big debate and dissapointment when many older classics were left out as they didn't reach the newer vote limit, and many noted that it was a shame that people using the top 250 to discover cinema would miss a big chunk of movie history in favor of popular newer movies. If the votes for movies also went down I would be happy.

I think that Paok is right.

Even the Bottom 250 has a minimum of 10k votes.

It doesn't seem stupid to me to elevate the minimum votes for TV Series.

I agree. Maybe 25k is too much for TV Series but 5k votes seems way too little.

Choosing 250 titles from a 'large' number (and variety) of titles makes a better, more accurate list as per IMDb standard.

And there are many examples like "Koombiyo".

Set the treshold to a higher level would be perfect for this list. it doesn't make sense having a 70s german or turkish tv series from the 70s that nobody but 5000 pepoles care about. it's not representive for a world standard. i mean some non us or non uk series are great and deserves to be there cause they're a bit more popular like dark, la casa de papel or gomorra. Settin the treshold to 15 20 or 25.000 (the best choice) would create a more accurate chart. Please do that :)
