FYC, Maybe you can put the movies with the same manliness genres (war, crime, western), in the same list. That makes the poll more interesting I think.

Thank you for the suggestion (and sorry for responding so late), but I think many of the movies can't be assigned to one genre, and genre isn't really what connects these movies in many cases.

hey albstein...i looked over all three lists and there are alot of movies i like..some i actually despise..but overall think they are all interesting choices...

i'm just curious about your question...'...has the most interesting things to say about manliness..'...not exactly sure what you're asking...

We wanted to create a well rounded list of films that have something to say about manliness. Some of the movies speak poignantly about what it means to be a man. Others give examples of true manliness in action

I think the greatest virtue of manliness is honor and ethics, risking everything because there is a moral necessity to it... I love movies that deal with moral issues and thee idea that one can jeopardize everything or risk his life because he feels it's his duty or his Destiny to accomplish... today, everything is about success but I love the traditional (Greek) notion of Heroism where you could be heroic even in failure... if you were brave enough to fight for a just cause.

Hmmm... I am having trouble picking any one film in all three polls... "manliness" can be defined in different ways by different people. There's "macho", but that doesn't mean "manly" to everyone. Tough one...
