I left two open spots for any early (prior to 12/25) Oscar-bait releases or for these three films with a currently planned Q4 2024 release, but with no firm release date settled upon.

@urbanemovies

I dropped The Return (2024) and Hard Truths (2024) to open two spots.

The discussion link in this list goes to the thread for the streaming movie suggestion.

20-city limited IMAX showings to coincide with the film's competition showing @ the 77th Cannes Film Festival

I believe those IMAX showings are upcoming, so they don't "coincide with" the Cannes premiere.

@Peter_pbn Thanks, nice catch. I made both corrections. I misread the 20-city IMAX rollout, the deal was brokered on the same day on the film's 77th Cannes Film Festival rather than occurring on the same day.

Plus, the groundwork seems to be laid for late Q4 release on a major streaming service for an awards season push and revenue-generating move, since all the distribution deals excluded VOD or streaming rights. Seemingly, this would make it possible to package them in worldwide streaming rights deal to the right buyer.

I'm seeing The Wild Robot this Tuesday in a special screening for New York Int'l Children's Film Festival members.

Did you miss the fact that release of Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 2 was effectively canceled? Due to the poor box office Chapter 1??

The Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 release date currently has no calendar placement.[15] The movie was previously scheduled for release on August 16, 2024, but due to the less than expected Chapter 1 performance, New Line Cinema removed the project from its original date.[16][17] The film will premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on September 7, 2024.[5]

I guess I'll vote for Memoir of a Snail.

Yes, but I read that it was initially put on hold to regroup and come with an alternate strategy, then chapter 2 was tenatively put back on schedule, as the film was already in the can. The Chapter One and Chapter Two movies were filmed back to back, as a cost saving move.

Cosner originally envisioned a four chapter story arc, which I can see the last two never being made (Chapter Three is in-production), but I can't see them never releasing an already made Chapter Two movie. Warner Bros. is motivated to get it out into theaters, but only if the second chapter does not result in them losing even more money than they have on the franchise.

I got think the best strategy is to release it as soon as possible and make back as much of its budget they can, the two films are going to be net money-losers, the only question is by how much. There is also a slim hope that they can turn the franchise around, by addressing the shortcomings of the first chapter and the hope that second chapter was better already. Based on its reception @ the Venice film festival, we should hear more soon or can infer how the second film will be released.

But you are right even though this November 7 date is the tenative target release date, it is all dependent on its reception @ the Venice film festival.

FYI, a month and a half after its June 28th release Chapter One is IMDb-rated @ 6.8, it is the 34th most IMDb-voted US release of 2024, and it is the 8th ranked movie, in terms of popularity, on the IMDb MovieMeter. All respectable benchmarks that can be built on by a Chapter Two film.

@Tsarstepan,

This date is obviously subject to change and in flux, the certainty of the date is more uncertain than your average film. But, I take the holding of fall release slot as a positive. Plus, movies changing release dates is a normal part of the film business and if the film gets released in theaters at all, I would think it the smart money would be on a November 7th or another Fall 2024 date (assuming a positive Venice showing). I think the movie changing dates from August to November allows them to change the narrative, as Chapter One was videos on-demand success story, and will give more time for people to see Chapter One, as will positive Venice film festival reviews and press.

P.S. I updated the text to reflect that it is tentative release date and have multiple websites confirming the same date.

Releases November 07, 2024 (tenative)

Plus, out of the 33 listed theater releases, it is 11th in terms of popularity as measured the movie's IMDb page views. It is right between the upcoming Venom trilogy finale,Venom: The Last Dance and the latest Hellboy installment, Hellboy: The Crooked Man. So, the the title qualifies as one of the most anticipated movies on the Fall 2024 release calender.
