The 1968 Fellinni version of Romeo and Juliet is the best one and was filmed in Pienza, Siena, and Tuscany.

@TheOldJalapenoman Thanks, a great movie and I appreciate the suggestion. I am limiting the poll options to those in or just adjacent to the 2026 Olympic venues, especially those in the Dolemites, Milan, Cortina or Verona. Therefore, anything not in northern Italy or not on the Italian Peninsula is going to be excluded from consideration. The Romeo & Juliet (1968) film locations were more centrally located, further south and in the flatter Tuscany region (see map) of Italy. Normally, I restrict the movies to a single Olympic city, but I had to open the geographical scope a bit wider to accommodate the spread of Olympic venues throughout the region's combined host sites with MilanCortina d'Ampezzo, and Verona co-hosting these Olympics.

Sorry that you had to give the geography lesson.  I know that the original Shakespeare play takes place in the city of Verona and so I assumed the most accurate movie was also filmed in the area.

@TheOldJalapenoman,

I thought exactly the same thing because of the Verona connection. But, when I compiled the initial list I found it was filmed around Rome and Tuscany mostly. Probably, likely to more production facilities being available in Rome and Tuscany could adequately double for the outdoor scenes. This Romeo & Juliet (2013) is the only one that I know of that were stickers for using the actual setting as a film location.

That's why I like the suggestions, so keep them coming. They help to see if anything was grossly overlooked or see if it a title slipped through the cracks. It is nice to see you back on the message board.
