Live Poll: Adrenaline Rushes

Intro:

Some movies seem to be made on drugs. They speed up many scenes and can make the audience sit on the edge of the seat. The effect may come from speedy action, shaky cam, shown aggression, or tricky angles. Which of these adrenaline soaked movies is your favorite?

Slow down here to tell about it.

Suggestions:

Better fast paced, ultrafast movies with action like on speed drugs. 40+ cuts/minute ok. Steroid movies with style, cheap story ok.

The feeling can also come by shaky optics or hard grain. Better 7+/10, but 5/10 is also ok.

I'm not sure if any of the movies mentioned for consideration are quite what here the poll suggester has in mind. The gist of the poll idea seems to be movies which depict unrelenting tension/hazard (with little time for dialog), from start to finish. However, there is extensive wiggle room, I suppose. Many of the movies already on the list are similar enough to the movies presented for consideration of being added to the list.

@jeorj_euler

There are 3-4 candidates on my list, which I'm not very satisfied with, because real adrenaline soaked movies are mor rare than you would think of. And I got another problem: There was a poll, I didn't find anymore. It was made from many movies that are suggested here, but I wanted to do the thing in another way. First point: I wanted to take at least movies for it, which were in  the other poll. Second point: I really just want the really insane fast paced, shaky, aggressive or  somehow "drug-induced-images", best over the whole playtime.

The best of these examples are 'Hardcore' and 'Crank'. Movies like these two would match perfect. But some of them suggested are not really insane in it's making. Most of them are just good action flics - and on the other list. 'Matrix' & 'Edge of tomorrow' are on the list of the other user.

Right, movies with the same pacing as Crank are not too common. Hardcore Henry is even rarer, but that "rarer" is mainly due to it being in first-person perspective. We could look into the respective filmographies of Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa, though. I get the feeling that The Raid: Redemption is not the only movie starring Uwais that has its particular style of pacing. Such a strategy may be fruitful in regards to directors and producers too.

Right, one could almost easily mistake Crank as forged from a script which had been laid out by toddlers playing with action figures and edited by horny teenagers, then implemented by fun-loving professionals.

I think that Crank wasn't designed to be a serious movie. So I see it as a totally overspeeded comedy which deals with all available clichées one can find about "modern" gangsters from different cultures and behaviors. It deals with Mexicans as well as a black gang and asian people. The seem to have taken every clichée they could find and mixed it in to create some extra nasty fun. ;D I don't watch such movies when I'm serious. But I'm not always serious. ;)

The tail end of the very last scene of Crank sort of eliminated any way to reasonably believe that the movie (or its overarching movie franchise) ought to be taken seriously. I mean, why would/did makers of the movie decide to subvert expectations in the process of setting up the even more ridiculous sequel to the story? Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have a look at CinemaSins' "Everything Wrong with Crank"; perhaps just for kicks, seeing as how CinemaSins can seldom be taken as accurate, which the fellow Th3Birdman is often able to easily prove.

As long as there are no more fitting suggestions, I'd consider this to be ready for going online.

@mariojacobs

Hi, Mariojacobs. :D Thank you for suggesting. :D

I saw that movie, but can't remember proper how fast or distortet the cuts were, if it fits.

I'll put your suggestion on the list. Later I'll watch the movie again and decide, if it fits to the poll idea. I know it's very interesting and if the criteria I mentioned fit, it stays on the list. ;D

Children of Men is close like World War Z. Both are very intense and unrelenting. However, I don't remember whether or not it fits the "never a dull moment" test, if there is such a thing.

Ok, you can remove it. Sorry. I remember being astonished by the combat scenes, otherwise it is quite boring.

I watched more than 10 years ago, but perhaps

Black Hawk Down

The Hurt Locker

might fit your list.

And most recently

Vin Diesel Blooshot

?

ah, now i remember another high voltage movie, not sure if it was never boring, but the war scenes were frightening and the ambiance very tense:

Hamburger Hill

a lost gem in the Vietnam genre in my opinion

I guess with Hamburger Hill I have to trust you. I didn't see it, but I'll put it on the list.

I also take Bloodshot and Black Hawn Down. It's about 16 years since I've seen it, but I remember BHD as a 2 hour action clip. There was barely no pieces without action. This one is on the list of the other user, but it matches with both lists.

Please look, if it is the right Hamburger Hill. Sometimes there are diffrent movies with same titles. :D That's why it is useful to give a year or a link. I always try that. It helps the opposite person and makes suggestions more promising. ;D

I just saw Hamburger Hill. I as a non-militaristic person can't judge, if that movie is realistic, but for me it seems like. I don't know why the movie didn't reach me. It is interesting in many ways. I like how the characters develope and the action scenes and sequences are pretty good, too. But I have to admit that it doesn't fit for the list, so I wiped it off. It need about one hour until the main battle phase beginns and even then there are breaks that slow it down. Sorry. :D
