American Beauty (1999) is a beautiful movie but The Dark Knight (2008) will win

I put it pretty much at the bottom along with Inception... hopefully that doesn't skew the voting in their favor.

What are the inclusion criteria?

This list is so RANDOM. Especially since there are films in there that have (a modicum of) CGI. There are literally 10000s of films without ANY CGI.

I suppose the poll suggester could, if he so desired, simply pick from among IMDb's Top 250 the movies that contain zero or roughly zero scene elements generated or "graphed" via electronic computational means, with an exception being made for title cards and credits sequences.

Since you're asking which is the most beautiful, maybe should you put that in the title? There are millions and millions of non-CGI movies out here.

FYC:
Tetro - PAINFULLY GORGEOUS (but then there are credits for special effects and visual effects! Grrr....)
The Fountain - I wasn't completely behind the story but the film is frickin' beautiful. Plus: Instead of using CGI, Darren Aronofsky chose to do the visual effects for the film by using micro-photography of chemical reactions on tiny petri dishes. He has said that CGI would take away from the timelessness of the film, and that he wants the film to stand the test of time. (but then there are credits for special effects and visual effects! Grrr....)
Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (DItto!!!)
Les demoiselles de Rochefort - The colors!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok. Wait a minute. How can Inception be on this list when there are over 100 people credited for effects on it? It's the same with American Beauty and I assume many others, though I'm not going to look them all up. Now I'm really confused...

Thanks Jen.. This has been a tough one to devise (I may take your advise and put the word "beautiful" in the title).

Inception I wasn't sure about because you're right, I guess most of the film is CGI (for some reason, I thought Nolan avoided CGI for the most part as he tends to do with most of his films; he often maligns directors who inflate their imagery with CGI) but American Beauty is a film, to my knowledge at least:

Where the majority of the beauty in the film doesn't stem from CGI. So for American Beauty, even though the red roses may be CGI the majority of the film is NOT CGI and that's the purpose I'm shooting for with this poll. Films that were visually striking and beautiful to the naked eye sans CGI... does that makes sense?

Does 'The Artist' match your rules? I guess it was not all (100% of scenes) actually filmed.Maybe it has 2% CGIs?
