Poll Suggestion: Ultimate Summer Flick?

I don't know if this fits into your theme because this one is about a steamy, tension filled story by William Faukner, "The Long, Hot Summer" (1958). That film is heavy serious fare. A made-for-Tv remake was done in 1985 with Don Johnson.
- A surfing documentary, "The Endless Summer (1966) and it's sequel, "The Endless Summer 2"(1994).
- a completely unrelated film, "Endless Summer".
For completely light comedy, all the beach party movies of Frankie Avalon and Annette Funnicello.
Believe it or not, this Charlie Brown film was released at the movie theaters as a movie and not as a made for TV special, "Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown (1977). While looking at that film, I found this, http://www.imdb.com/list/ls068067879?... . I second "Holes" on that list.

Since you had mentioned Grease on your list, how about something set in Greece? Momma Mia. It has spring to summer weather, the sea, the beach, the music of ABBA, a wedding, and parties. Also the bit about a usually prudish mother not knowing which of three men is the father of her young daughter. (Don't jump to concludsions. The woman had a wild period in her life caused by stress and she had paid for it.)

Thanks. As both movies I mentioned involve surfing, you can always replace Gidget with The Swimmer. There are different swimming pools, including a public one, and an empty one, along with pool parties.
