In my humble opinion, Quincy Jones is under-recognized in pop culture, so this poll suggestion is awesome. I look forward to seeing one for Barry White at some point, if there isn't already one.

'Lost on Earth' is listed twice.

The Michael Jackson video collection seems to only credit him for the Bad video, so maybe it's better to just list that one:

@mariojacobs It doesn't make sense to go on about all his jobs in the music industry, his Grammy nominations and wins, and listing all the record titles he is best known for producing, then segue into a question about your favorite Quincy Jones production and not to have any of those titles listed.

I would suggest having your introduction more closely match the scope of your answer pool, as well as, being more specific in your question and not refer to producing in general.

You can start with his music accomplishments, then transition to the fact most people don't know he is a major player in the TV and movie business, discuss his accomplishments in that segment and finish with a question about your favorite movie, documentary, TV show or music video produced by him.

Quincy Jones was the producer, with Michael Jackson, of Jackson's albums Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987), as well as the producer and conductor of the 1985 charity song "We Are the World".

I removed the music subject

1985 | Music Video
7,4(633)
I changed the question to
Which is your favorite Quincy Jones TV/movie production?
I really like the 4 short-sentenced paragraphs intro text.

I think it is fine, if those titles are included as they are videos, the subject matter or content (ie music) of the video titles doesn't matter.

The issue has more to do with the introduction being about one thing and then question is about an unrelated thing. It is confusing. Given the choice, no introduction is better than one that doesn't relate to the question asked.

@urbanemovies I understand your concern, but in the 1st sentence it is described:

Quincy Jones (1933) is an American record producer, musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, and film and television producer.

So the question in not 100% unrelated to the text.

I will write a transition sentence between the last paragraph and the question.

@mariojacobs I saw that, it lists six different professions, five of which are related to the music business. Three out of your four sentences are either all or primarily about the music business. Then, you ask a vague question, Which is your favorite Quincy Jones production? I was surprised to see the answer options were not about records, albums or songs. It came out of left field. The whole point of an introduction to lead the reader somewhere, not to talk about farming for five minutes and then ask them a question about rockets.

Jones is listed as a Grammy winner as video producer of We Are the World. He also seems to be credited as video producer of Bad (which was made as a whole short film). It seems fine to include them as film projects.

Being considered to be one of the greatest minds in music and television history, which is your favorite Quincy Jones TV/movie/video production?

@mariojacobs

Again, I don't think you understand my concern. You have not made any real changes.

Instead, your poll suggestion is comprised of four cut-n-paste sentences from Wikipedia and one cut-n-paste sentence from his IMDb biography with not an original sentence in the whole poll suggestion. The poll suggestion seems to be comprised of a number of unrelated facts thrown in that have nothing to do with film and TV production and the supposed scope of the poll.

You could be talking overall about his success overall. All the different entertainment fields he had success in. All the lifetime awards he has received from various organizations (see IMDb awards). The fact he is one of less than a couple dozen people to hold an EGOT (EmmyGrammyOscarTony) distinction (counting his honorary Oscar). You don't even mention his Emmy nominations or list his Emmy-nominated television productions among your answer options, even though that is directly related to the scope of the poll. This may seem a little harsh, but it seems like you are trying to fit square pegs (music biz) into round holes (TV/film biz) with all these non-topical sentences.

@urbanemovies thank you for your feedback. I like the idea of having an intro text beside the question, but I do NOT write well and I am not a movies/tv series expert, I just watch them. That is why the only expedient I could find was to copy+paste+abridge information from Wikipedia. Keep sending your suggestions, the one about bolding the question I will implement in all my lists...

I can appreciate that, but to my point, expertise and writing well are not required. You just need to want to do better.

Next time, try this and follow these five easy steps. A) Take some time, probably a few minutes, as you have already done surveying Wikipedia or an on-topic article. B) Cut-n-Paste to your heart's desire, but insert the text into an online editor instead (see below). C) Then make those fragments work in unison and blend them together. Take some chances by writing the sentences you were missing, swap out a word or two, or plug in a connecting phrase that pulls all your thoughts together. D) Then, click the FREE CHECK box and any errors that exist will be highlighted with suggested fixes. E) This is your safety net, so make the necessary corrections. It will ensure your writing is 99.9% error-free and will teach you at the same time to be a better writer. This is just like Capitalize My Title, another online editor that will save you time, make your writing better, and teach you to write.
