Poll Suggestion: Movies from the Past Worthy of an Unchanged Revival

Intro:

Some movies from past decades were successful because they were genuinely great - and they still hold up by today’s standards. These are the kind of classics that could be brought back to the big screen today with little or no alteration, because their stories, characters, and dialogue still work perfectly. Excluded are historical movies, literature films and musical/opera.

Which of these classics would you most like to see revived unchanged?

Please join the discussion here.

Suggestions:

I have to get a little hard in criteria.

Before 1990s, at least a rating of 6/10, less than 30.000 ratings. No historical or literature films, musicals or opera. The dialogues should be good, which means no movie that only consists of snipits of vokabulary or screaming. The movies should have good dialogue or be at least complete silent movies. Historicalalso means biograpy and documentation.

I have been doing a personal marathon of Audrey Hepburn films the past few days (she has always been one of my favorites).  Two of her films meet your criteria as being nearly perfect movies that could be shown today without cutting or alteration and be successful:

Roman Holiday

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Other films that I believe can stand the test of time:

The Great Escape

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Butterflies are Free

I don't know how you define "historical."  The Great Escape was made to chronicle a prison escape that took place only eighteen years in the past of the filming (so still a recent event for the filmmakers).

Thank you!! Good movies for sure, but all three ... 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', 'The Great Escape' as well as 'Butterflies are Free' are Literature filmings, 'The Great Escape' is even based on a historical factual report. I've put the other two on the list. Maybe you know some other?

I just saw the count of ratings of the other two are too high. I've set the count of ratings so low to get movies to catch smaller movies, which had not such epic success. I have to put the other two also of the list. Sorry.

@Breumaster Sorry, I didn't see the part about no more than 30k votes.

So here is an obscure one for you.  It is a film based on a local athelete from here in Albuquerque, NM.  Incredibly moving.

"A Shining Season"  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079905/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_shining%20season

The film is actually a full length remake of a 28 minute short called "John Baker's Last Race"  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371755/?ref_=tt_dyk_cnn

The short film will make you cry, guaranteed.

@Breumaster   Another mostly ignored film with few votes is the 1966 movie "Born Free."  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060182/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_Born%20Free

The writers of the original book are also the writers of the screenplay, so it isn't based on the work of another person.

Thank you again. These are interesting movies for sure. But with documentation and biographies it's historical, too. Recently history. In these movies the story is given. There was very less to be creative. Maybe some feature movies, like of Barbra Streisand or Nick Nolte? Bette Middler, maybe? There are so many movie stars that a middle size carreer for a long time, but are gold standard.
