Live Poll: Movie Heroines of 2022 (Ready)

List: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls566775479/

Poll: https://www.imdb.com/poll/0FpxKxyrmIQ/?ref_=po_fp

(1.26 Update: This is ready, except that tomorrow I'll check again for typos. All photos are available and included now.)

From superheroes to real life heroes, and even anti-heroes whose presence on this list one may question, it's great to be seeing such a range of female protagonists who reflect the very real range among real life women and girls. Which of these heroines from movies in 2022 is your favorite?

I missed so much researching for your poll last year.

Your list is not public.

@Pencho15 Oh my gosh, I missed doing the poll last year and I missed your help! I actually started one but never finished it and then I saw that Paok did one and posted it, which I never did. What was always the most fun for me was collaborating on polls and that's what I remember about my annual heroine polls: that you always were so enthusiastic and you were able to fill my considerable knowledge gaps.

Thanks for the really nice message -- and for letting me know that my poll was still private. It was kind of nicely nostalgic that I was still making the error that I so often used to: forgetting to make my poll public, lol.

As I understand the situation, Nanisca is a great heroine, but the story to which she belongs is a gross misrepresentation of history, perhaps to the point of being controversial. I'm thinking that The Woman King may not be any more or less problematic than Braveheart, just one of many examples, but I don't know, since I've not seen Nanisca's tale. Overall, movie audiences are becoming more annoyed by this kind of stuff than ever have they before in cinema history.

@Pencho15 Thanks, so much, for all of these suggestions! Wow, I missed some really big ones. What would I do without your help? : )

@Tsarstepan Hi Tsar, thank you, so much!

I'm sorry that I didn't see these until now but I will try to include at least a couple of these if I have time.

@Tsarstepan Oh my gosh, Meilin seems perfect. I added her. If I have time and can decide on who to cut from the list, I may the others or some of them. Meilin's on, for sure, though, and 'Turning Red' is now on my "to see" list.

@rubyfruit76 ,

I hope IMDb approves the image soon. If not, would you consider having the poll go live in the interim pending the approval of the image and updating the poll once the image is approved?

@dan_dassow Hi Dan, I'm sorry that I didn't see your message until now. Feel free to text me if I ever keep something like this waiting. The poll is ready now.

Oh, I don't know if it matters anymore but the first five images probably would crop well for the Home Page. (I see that they're not using three or five images like they used to and the formatting is entirely different but by now I'm in the habit.)

@rubyfruit76

I like your list alot, especially the inclusion of some notable strong heroines from lesser seen films, like Rahimi from Holy Spider (2022) and Catherine from Catherine called Brady (2022).

I do feel some animated heroines belong and the category is underrepresented though, like Maisie from Sea Beast (2022) and Kitty Softpaws from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022).

You also might consider crediting the fictional Nanisca from The Woman King, as Nanisca and the Agojie to credit the real-life female warrior army and the notable other female supporting performances in the film

Maybe, you could double up the two Do Revenge (2022) entries, the two She Said (2022) entries, the two Lou (2022) entries and the two Swimmers (2022) entries together, so you add without subtracting. This would allow you to add two more animated and two new documentary entries to the strengthen the answer pool even more and reduce the amount of ommissions.

FYI, your needed solo image if not doubling up: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14807308/mediaviewer/rm3517395713/

I also would consider the women who took down The Tinder Swindler (2022) and volcanologist Katia Krafft from Fire of Love (2022) from the documentary genre deserving and the category is not represented at all.

Which of these heroines from movies in 2022 is your favorite?

@urbanemovies Hi Urb, thank you, so much, for your feedback and suggestions! I will definitely consider most of your suggestions. The only one I had already decided not to include is Kitty Softpaws because, although I haven't seen the film, the limited research I've done doesn't reveal the kind of character I'm going for here.

I will definitely look into Maisie, Katia Krafft, and the women from 'The Tinder Swindler.'

This is not an exhaustive list, though, and fortunately, couldn't be. That is why I didn't ask "which heroine from the movies of 2022 is your favorite?" I regret that I can't include everyone but that's a much better problem than not having enough characters, of course. : )

And oh my gosh, thank you for pointing out the solo image of Jodi Kantor from 'She Said!' I had been submitting solo photos for weeks and every one was declined. I submitted that one, too, but was so used to the declines, I forgot to check that one, lol. Thanks again! I will probably take your advice, however, and double up those two women, though, so that if this goes live before I've added any others, I will have at least one empty space I can use to add someone.

I promise that I will seriously consider all of your suggestions as long as the poll isn't live and there's space available. (And before it goes live, I will consider taking others out to make space.)

Thanks again!

ps: Some decisions will, of course, also depend on availability of good photos.

@urbanemovies 'Took a lot of your suggestions, Urb, but unfortunately could only add two of the characters you recommended. Space and image availability were both problems. Doubling up as many characters as I could helped, a lot, though, so thanks again for your feedback!

@rubyfruit76 I agree you never going to get them all to fit. Still, you could add two more by doubling up the two Do Revenge (2022) entries and the two Swimmers (2022) entries together. Especially, since it seems weird to do it for some and not others, when you have been removing options due the lack of room. Obviously, your call to make.

Rahimi from Holy Spider, not only because she is a topical heroine.

Your list is full but I'd like to make an honorable mention of Emily Brontë from Emily. I could certainly empathize more with her than with Catherine from Wuthering Heights, haha.

@albstein Oh my gosh, there was a movie about Emily Brontë this year?! I added her to the list and added the movie to my watchlist.

Thanks, alb!

@rubyfruit76 Oh, that's cool! Emily has its share of strong acting moments and a wonderful score, so it's one of my favorite 2022 movies. Congrats on the live poll :)
