I also read the following. And, it disappointed me. Spielberg allegedly said to The Hollywood Reporter:

"The Zone of Interest' is the best Holocaust movie I've witnessed since my own"

It find it quite arrogant of him, and maybe even displaced considering the subject. Spielberg is so assured of his self-importance, it often gets annoying. He feels like the type of guy who do answer "I know" if you told him that he is one of the greatest director of all time.
