Poll Suggestion: IMDb Poll Board's Most Agreeable Movie Wisdom

Intro:

In some movies there are statements of characters or voice-overs that keep some truth in it. The IMDb Poll Board users picked their own favorite movie wisdoms from text lines in the movies. Which of these statements would you most likely agree? Tell us here. For slideshow, please click here.

Suggestions:

Each user can pick countless quotes in movie he/she/* strongly agrees and suggest it for an option. If there are too many, I'm heading for a second part. :D Please suggest with image(s). No matter which movie (also animated and Musicals/music movies). One exception: documentaries. I don't want to have the statements of three different documentaries which all say "Ich bin ein Berliner", or something like that.

List1: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls521629581/
List2: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls4111054862/

  • Davy Crockett: "Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat - the same tightness a man gets when his baby takes his first step or his first baby shaves and makes his first sound as a man. Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words."  From "The Alamo" (1960)
  • Sam Houston: "You will remember this battle! Each minute! Each second! Until the day that you die! But that is for tomorrow, gentlemen. For today, Remember The Alamo!"  From:  "The Alamo"  (2004)

Man, I need the movies. I don't automatically know all suggestions by movie. :)

Best would be a fitting image.

@Breumaster   If you look at my quotes, I listed the name of the character, the quote, and then the name of the movie.

Here are some pictures of the the characters who say the quote:

Will Decker quote from Star Trek; The Motion Picture:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079945/mediaviewer/rm386044673/?ref_=ttmi_mi_41_2

"We all create God in our own image."

Davy Crockett quote from The Alamo (1960):  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053580/mediaviewer/rm1462352641/?ref_=ttmi_mi_16_1

"Republic. Republic is one of those words."

Sam Houston quote from The Alamo (2004):  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318974/mediaviewer/rm1006014976/?ref_=ttmi_mi_7_4

"You will remember this battle! Each minute! Each second! Until the day that you die! But that is for tomorrow, gentlemen. For today, Remember The Alamo!"

On edit, this is probably a better picture of Sam Houston:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318974/mediaviewer/rm4054220544/?ref_=ttmi_mi_19_2

First: Thank you for the image links! :D

Please note: I don't automatically know the scene in which the qoute happened and can't automatically evaluate, which image might me the best, especially when I don't know the movie. If you put in links, why not the image links, instead of characters and titles? the title is automatically contained in the image link. It would make it easier to act. Everybody does! Again thank you for the image-links. :D

"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love."  Dumbledore, Deathly Hallows part 2:

Thanks. ;D

But I just realised that Bilbo's quote is only from the book. Can you replace it with this one:

"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

It's the same movie and the same picture.

Rules changed a little. You can suggest as many as you want. They should make sense and come straight from a movie. Best they are modern and popular. Don't forget the fitting image for it. If there are too many, I'm heading for a second part.

I left out the usernames so voters wouldn’t be too distracted from the options. It also makes the options look better.

Alright! Then, I'd suggest a few more:

"Even the smallest person can change the course of the future." - Galadriel, Fellowship of the Ring

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120737/mediaviewer/rm2510349568/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

""End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path... One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it." - Gandalf, Return of the King

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167260/mediaviewer/rm1611439361/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

Sorry if there's too many LOTR quotes :)

Since there are already two LOTR gems in here, I’ll save the following ones for future poll rounds to keep things more varied. Your suggestions are definitely noted though. Thanks! :D

I've installed the second list. Both of your suggestions are at the top (#1 & #2), but it might be that I will shift them when other wisdom arrives. ;)
