Poll Suggestion: Favorite Reluctant Hero

This poll focuses on characters who did not want to be heroes at first. They resisted the call, doubted themselves, or tried to avoid responsibility, but eventually stepped into courage and transformation.

Their heroism begins with hesitation, not confidence, which makes their journey more human and relatable.

The list is arranged in alphabetical order by character names.

Harry S. Stamper - Just wanted to play some golf with Greenpeace, got caught by government and found himself in space at the end. Literally saved the earth by blowing up himself.

Howard Langston - He became a real hero for his son on his hunt for the last Turbo Man action figure. On his way he crosses many different troubles and fight through all of it for the christmas present for his son - and at last himself becomes Turbo Man and flies with his totally proud son. One of Schwarzeneggers most funny movies, beside Twins, True Lies, Junior and Last Action Hero. I truly like his comedic films best! Arnie for president!

@Breumaster 😐

Just to clarify, The 🙏 emoji is commonly used to mean thank you, appreciation, or a polite request.

It’s also known as the “folded hands” emoji and often represents gratitude or respect, not anything negative or sarcastic.

Reza, I'm sorry about that. In Germany, where I live, it's far from appropriate. I was just kidding a little around. That's German humor. Sorry for that. Thank you for adding the suggestions. I've deleted most of the post, because my goal wasn't to offend you.

@Breumaster Thank you for removing it.

From all these conversations with you, I know that you have a great character, and one thing would never ruin my overall impression of you. I also know that your intention was not to offend.

There’s a general perception here that Germans are very organized and joke less—I don’t know how accurate that is 😄

I guess our humor is a little more harsh, sarcastic, cynical than in other countries, even though we often don't mean it bad. Also swear-words are no problem and can be shown in TV. We don't *bleep* it, if words like a**hole slides out.

And we are straight to the point and don't beat around the bush. We punch the words right in the face of the receipient. I know that American people and also of many other cultures are more diplomatic and euphemistic and not so direct. Sometimes I forget that - especially when I'm not diffident enough. ;)

Indiana Jones

Ellen Ripley

Luke Skywalker

Tris Prior - Divergent

Rango - Rango

Hutch Mansell - Nobody

William Wallace - Braveheart

Ash - Evil Dead Trilogy  ... the people love Ash!

Guido Orefice - Life is Beautiful

Oskar Schindler - Schindler's List

First I wrote a few lines more about the examples, but I got censored three times (!) by the dumb bot. So I can't explain why. Sorry about that. And that is in a land that provides free speech!

I forgot Sara Connor due to the anger about the censoring. She is a parade of an example!

@Breumaster Thanks for your help. Honestly, sometimes the robot is really unbearable and gets on your nerves.

I wanted to say something in support of freedom of speech, but imagine that the robot blocked it—so now I’m writing this instead.

@riverotterThank you for your help.

Except for the first option (since Breumaster had suggested it earlier), the rest of the options, along with your link, have been added to the list.

It's your idea, so I don't want to patronize. I just think, you can also add riverotter additional, if you want so. I made that earlier and sometimes added the line "... seconded by ..."

@Breumaster I added the suggestions that were made, along with the name of the person who suggested them (Riverotter).

I created an Excel file where I enter and save the name, the link, and the formula used to create it.

For example, for your future suggestions, I just need to copy and paste the relevant text.

@RezaKJoi ,

Great poll suggestion. Please add a question. For instance:

With which of these reluctant heroes do you most relate?

Which of these reluctant heroes do you most admire?
