Live Poll: Face-Off: Favorite Movie Directed by Charlie Kaufman

Charlie Kaufman's career as a screenwriter has been rather eclectic, delving into our minds with a penchant for the dreamlike and bizarre. The natural evolution of Kaufman's talents took him to the director's chair, where he has developed something of a cult following.

Which of Kaufman's directorial efforts is your favorite?

I've only seen Anomalisa, but it is great.

In your list, please remove the words Poll Suggestion from the title, otherwise, they will be seen if this is published.

You may replace them with the words Face-Off, which would make it elegible for fridays.

Thank you, I replaced "Poll Suggestion" with "Face-Off".

Good face-off! I liked Synecdoche but my vote would go to Anomalisa. I love that I get to see Philip Seymour Hoffman in Synecdoche but I think Anomalisa is the better film.

May I suggest one small edit to the very good intro? (below in bold)

Charlie Kaufman's career as a screenwriter has been rather eclectic, delving into our minds with a penchant for the dreamlike and bizarre.

("Was" sounds like he's past tense (thank goodness he's still with us) or like he doesn't write anymore (thank goodness he still does).  )

(I haven't seen the new one yet but probably will watch it Thursday night. 'Looking forward to it.)

I agree with your suggested edit, and I have made the change!

And Kaufman has suggested that the new one may be his last directing project. He'll still be writing, but the future of his directing career is unclear. Even so, the past tense from before was a bit presumptive.

Thank you!

Oh wow, I had not heard that about his directing career. I hope he continues to direct but as long as he continues to write, I won't complain, lol.

@rubyfruit76

I didn't hate Synecdoche but it just didn't work (wondering how much of it was it befuddled me a bit). But I absolutely love its original song which the Academy screwed over and snubbed it in a year they only nominated three songs (and two were for Slumdog).

I love that song, too! And yeah, Synecdoche seems to be divisive... as many Kaufman movies are.
