Nice to see Idiocracy on the list. Seems to be contemporary right now. And that's for the whole world, including Germany. Many politicians that babble around without any consequences. That might be the worst of truths, but the most accuratly, even though it's very satirical.

@Breumaster As Nassim Nicholas Taleb argues, politicians should have skin in the game. I deeply believe in this principle, so they cannot escape the consequences of their words and actions.

I rely on my own perception. I observe, listen, compare different viewpoints, and think things through before forming my own perspective on the world. I follow as many political discussions as I can in my area, and I have to say that the overall direction does not look encouraging.

One of the main problems with politicians, especially those in high office, is that as their power and wealth increase, they often lose touch with the very people who enabled them to reach those positions. When I listen to certain statements on television, I sometimes find them difficult to take seriously.

There is a growing disconnect between political elites and ordinary citizens. Too often, decision-makers appear to prioritize specific interest groups while losing sight of everyday concerns. The longer someone remains in a powerful position, the greater the risk of becoming detached from normal life. There are, of course, exceptions - individuals who remain consistent and grounded in policies that genuinely serve the broader public. I guess their number by 1 of 100 - far too less for a good result.

I try to read different opinions, and if I find that someone’s view is correct, I use it in my discussions. I also place a lot of value on quoting and referencing sources.

One criticism I have of myself is that for several years I have stopped following the news, whether in politics or other areas. I know that as a citizen I should engage in advocacy or activism, but in this way, I experience a much greater sense of peace.

At the moment, I read and watch everything because the world seems poised for rapid change. I want to understand where this journey is heading so I can prepare for whatever might come.

Some time ago, I studied the Bible intensely. If I were to believe it literally, I might say we are living in the last days.

An elder of the JW once spoke to me about the last days and pointed out certain hints in the scriptures. According to them, anyone who wants to understand the last days should watch the Middle East, as that’s where key decisions are made. But I no longer really believe in that interpretation. I guess it's more like a change from an old way to a new federation.
