Intro: There were rumors around that AIs could rule more efficent, by steering economic and social issues. Some say wars could be avoided effectively by a neutral, because incorruptible AI-government. They think that many of our problems can be fixed by AI solutions. I don't quite understand, should I choose my favorite or the political model that the movie represents? In either case I choose Minority Report

Yes, the political model. That's the choice. I used that movie posters, because these stories or images / titles are seemingly the closest link to the content of the options. One exception is the muppets movie. I've chosen it, because it is the most sympathetic choice to totally say no. To both, politic and AIs. That's because some people are such unpolitical that I felt there has to be an option for it. Idiocracy is just political, but also a clear no to AIs, The other movies' are AI-stories. The Muppets-option is what some of us would call The "Betty White option". ;)

@completeunknown: Maybe you would like to place an option that is more close to your own position. It only should be different enough from the other options. If you want that, please tell me and give me a movie example for presenting. Btw: Welcome to the poll board. I was inactive for a long time and now again try to visit that page more often. If you have questions about poll making and discussions, there is a wide range of positive minded people to support each other. If you want to write polls yourself, Dan has written down a manifest of rules. To start and release a poll it's teamwork via discussion. :D

That's a terrifying thought. I'm not sure which poll selection I most agree with and I wouldn't know where to begin if it I tried to answer but AI can't understand nuance, is incapable of empathy, and is not intuitive. Of course the U.S. President isn't capable of any of those qualities, either, but I think only human beings can fix all the grave errors human beings make. AI stores a lot more information than the human mind can and sometimes accesses it a lot faster but that doesn't begin to compare to the complexities required for such important decision making. AI is really quite dumb, actually. Granted, so are human beings but at least there are some intelligent and sane ones around to hopefully limit the damage our species does. AI can't make art, AI can't comprehend existing philosophies or create new ones, can't judge what questions are most vital to ask science to try to answer, and I can't imagine it could wisely analyze the results science gives us, AI can't stop human beings from being violent, and the list goes on. In my humble opinion, it's a tool, not a replacement.

Nice to see we agree. :D I guess meanwhile everyone would have a position to that. Most would vote for The Terminator, I guess.
