Lots of great films on the list.  I'd probably vote for Eisenstein's masterpiece Battleship Potemkin just because the Odessa Steps sequence is so brilliant.

Might I suggest a followup poll with the first 35 talking pictures (since all of these are silents)?  Maybe another poll with the first 35 color pictures?

thank you for noticing this, I personally just copied&pasted the oldest ones.

Is there a way to imdb-search talking pictures?

I guess to search for color pictures should be easy: you just have to check the imdb pictures/photo gallery...
