Off-Topic: No "Remembering Jeanne Moreau"?

It's not a post-mortem popularity contest and Sam Shepard certainly deserves a "Remebering" section on the homepage but I remember Martin Landau and George Romero got their due homage together on the same page.

That's just to say Jeanne Moreau was an international star and one of the figureheads of French cinema in the 50's/60's and not just the Nouvelle Vague, I think she deserved a tribute just like Sam Shepard not just a headline on the news section :(.

Indeed she should, and she also deserves a homage poll. I don't know which news got out first, as I've seen Shepard died before. Hopefully that explains why are they late and Moreau will get one later?

It's unfortunate but hopefully you can report that there are tributes going on in her native France. I would make a tribute poll but I am totally unversed in her career - have seen only one or two films.

This reminds me of your old "eclipsing deaths" suggestion you made before we moved. I'd like to see you post it as a suggestion here... Michael Jackson eclipsed Farrah Fawcett, Robin Williams outshadowed Lauren Bacall and River Phoenix's untimely death garnered more headlines than Fellini's.

I don't know, I've always believe she had an international aura like Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve. I thought she'd have gotten a 'special treatment' due to her legacy, especially being a Nouvelle Vague icon etc. etc.

I think, she was probably more respected outside than inside France even though she's a monument, she was actually the target of many impersonators, especially imitating her raspy voice, her big lips and (sadly) her age, one of the most vitriolic French comedians did an impression of Moreau-making-an-impression-of-ET and it became one of his signature sketch.
