Each year, many Christian denominations (most famously Catholicism) obverse Lent, a period of fasting that starts on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Easter Sunday. Lent is a season where the penitent focus on prayer, sacrifice and good works. In modern times, many parishioners obverse sacrifice by giving up what they consider their greatest vice.
