The Americans write dates with the month at first, the day at second and the year at last position. So the German kind to write is (example Silitonga): 16.05.2049, the American would be: 5/16/2049

Most common formats we're using are YYYY/MM/DD and DD/MM/YYYY   :P

Even though I'm American, I prefer the "16may2049" form (with always a three-letter abbreviation of month) to the "5/16/2049" form. I was inspired by Wikipedia to adopt such a way. On hospital questionnaires and loan deferment applications, I do believe I still use the latter.

On a side note, I've always thought it weird that "fourth of July" is the phrase Americans use to refer to the United States' birthday, when this phrasing is not used for other dates (apart from a month's first day), but we may all find it interesting that the  United States Declaration of Independence (as well as the United States Constitution) uses British spellings of words: "defence" for example, yet when the Department of Navy (the ministry of the naval forces) was merged with the Department of the War (the ministry of the land forces), the Department of Defense (the ministry of defence, so to speak) was founded. Americans have a history of trying to be extra unique in the world perhaps.

When I noticed that americans twist the day and the month in date, I wondered why they don't turn the year on first. That's the best way for archiving things - to make a hierarchy. year-month-day. With that arrangement you can sort all things by time properly in a row.

So I agree with all except 'The Usual Suspects'... I think I'm pretty alone here but I found the film super boring. The twist was one of the coolest but the journey I took to get there I just didn't care for. I was happy to see Ebert wasn't a fan either (even after watching multiple times) - my favorite quote of his from his suspects review:

I went to see it again in July, I came armed with a notepad and a determination not to let crucial plot points slip by me. Once again, my comprehension began to slip, and finally I wrote down: "To the degree that I do understand, I don't care."

Trust me, if this poll idea worked and you got no memory of it, you'll gonna love it. 

And btw, I just look at the list again and saw that Crash in there. I don't know why its there. Totally not qualify, there is no twist in the story, just stories of a different people in this tiny world. Could happen anywhere and anytime, smart concept but totally not a twist.

I want others opinion about Inception
I've always considered it as a mystery, but if you guys think it's not a mystery, I'll add it to the list. :D




Some of these suggestions has been rejected because those are mysteries and some because of less than 100,000 votes.


But, There are 1,579 movies with more than 100,000 IMDb votes and only  209 of these are mystery films.

The Matrix is one that I'd definitely like to see for the first time again. For some reason, I hardly knew anything about it when attending the show. If had seen any part of any trailers of it before that, then I must have ignored them.

I saw few polls about plot twists and leading movies in most of those were mystery films.
Most mysteries implies that something is hidden from the viewer.
So,  a twist is expected eventhough it's an unpredictable one.
For example, twist in Shawshank Redemption is a surprise and it's unexpected.

A genuine twist is a revelation that challenges assumptions, whether reasonable or gullible, like to be made by audience. It's a bit different from a surprising (or shocking) storyline event, like shots of a family riding in a car and suddenly being t-boned in the intersection. Yet any near-end storyline event that snatches expectations away from the audience like taking candy from an infant is also something of a twist, maybe better known as a mere "spoiler". Why this? Because audiences will for all movies have expectations about the way a story is "supposed to end", and make assumptions accordingly. Sometimes it is a simple matter of loose ends being left throughout a story, which wind up being forgotten about until they are tied up at the end.

I happen to be the unfortunate audience member to see The Usual Suspects after having seen Se7en, Primal Fear, The Sixth Sense and notably Courage Under Fire, so I'd already developed experience with twists in addition to developing "hunches" about sole survivors of a dire event. Flashback sequences represent a point of view, and things a character tells another characters are "true, from a certain point of view".

I watched The Third Man twice, and most of it flew over my head both times, except for scene with the conversation the two friends were having at the top of the Ferris wheel. This is not a movie I would want to forget (I think), because then I'd have to start all over again. O_o

Jeorj Euler, interesting: I watched The Third Man (1949) back-to-back with The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) in the autumn of 2015 and, despite I've never re-watched the entirety of the former, it never quite left my head since, leaving a lasting impression. The latter, however, mostly escaped my memory apart from remembering certain scenes and movie overall being good. The weirdest part is that it's hard for me to forget any movie, so it might have been overshadowed completely by The Third Man...

Oh, wow, I thought I told you a while ago that I really like this one. Somehow, I didn't, though, so: I really like this one, lol. And I love the way that you narrate it. 

Voting will be tough because there are several good ones. Silence of the Lambs is one my top ten favorites so I normally would say that but I see that so often as it is and I haven't seen Inglourious Basterds for a while, so probably Inglourious. 

Oh, I noticed a little typo under 'The Shining.' There was a "the" missing:

No one has the guts to watch this one again.
