WARNING: This poll contains MAJOR SPOILERS.

These are the characters who avoided the consequences of committing a murder. They were either found not guilty by a judge or were never even caught to begin with.

Which of these movie characters would you put behind bars?

Thanks for your suggestions Peas, they've all been added! I also added, from your murder poll, Leonard Vole from Witness for the Prosecution (1957). It's too bad they can't put spoiler text here like they could on the old board!

Thank you Ruby :) I tried to put some of the most popular characters at the bottom of the list, so to not skew the voting results!

This is a good thing I decided to double check Anton Chigurth and a few others to see if they actually did get away with it or weren't murdered themselves in the end.* Why? Because in the plot synopses to No Country For Old Men, it contains these words, "Moss asks the man where the "last man standing" - the winner - is, but doesn't get an answer." Last Man Standing (1996) is a movie starring Bruce Willis as the hitman John Smith, and yes, he does murder people and walks away at the end.
Even though I didn't see the movie and you might want to check with someone who did, you might want to check "Charley Partanna" (Jack Nicholson) and "Irene Walker" (Kathleen Turner) in Prizzi's Honor.
Spoiler Alert! Definitely Det. Sgt. Dignam in the surprise ending to The Departed (2006). Hey wait, where is that poll about movies with surprise endings? I got a suggestion to make.

- the movie Mr. And Mrs Smith with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

* I was wrong and I admit it. Anton does survive it and walks away.

Grang,

Sgt. Dignam is a great one (that last scene was such a mind-bender, you just didn't know who would make it out alive.)

Thanks for the suggestion!

I wish I had checked the list, I would have suggested Michael Corleone :( :(
He got away with a double murder and it paved the way to his criminal path.

Is it too late?

Brat had suggested him as well and for some reason I never got around to it. I will insert him and ask for a timely re-push, it's never too late for a Corleone :)

Never too late but he lost many votes by now, if that poll ever got in the homepage, I wouldn't worry for him to get immediately in the Top 3.

"Never too late but he lost many votes by now," no, not really. I had just checked and it is still early in the voting. There is not too many votes cast and the leader only had 16 votes. If it goes on much longer before a re-push, then Micheal Corleone will miss a lot of votes.
But so far, I will say that this a pretty balanced list with everyone getting votes. Kudos, Kyle Perez. Good list.

To the best of my memory, Patrick Batemen didn't actually kill anyone in American Psycho.  He was just a douchy yuppy with psychopathic delusions and daydreams.

American Psycho spoiler alert: It is left somewhat ambiguous whether he killed anyone or not, it was the big question that was left unanswered once the film fades to black. We never know for sure if they were delusions or not, but I guess you're right; he was a tricky one to add.
