Live Poll: Stars!
Intro:
Last time, the focus was on the planets — worlds where size and mass scale in a fairly intuitive way. Now, we turn to the stars, the siblings of our Sun. Stars follow different rules: size does not directly determine mass or density, and even small differences in mass can lead to huge differences in brightness, temperature, and lifespan. For comparison, masses are given in solar masses (the mass of our Sun). The Sun itself is not standing still — it orbits the center of the Milky Way at about 220 km/s (around 137 miles per second). We begin with our own star before looking at others.
Suggestions:
I'm not really over-all happy with the images. If you got better ones, please show them here. Thank you, guys. :D

@Breumaster ,
My vote:
Sirius A
I'm tempted to vote for Polaris. I'm originally from Minnesota.
Polaris:
Distance: About 433 ly.
Zone: Intermediate region (100-1,000 ly).
Type: Yellow Supergiant (F-type).
Mass: About 4.5-5 solar masses.
Radius: About 21,500,000 mi (34,600,000 km).
Surface Temperature: About 10,340 F (5,725 C).
Trivia: Polaris is a triple star system and the closest Cepheid variable star to Earth. It appears stationary because it is aligned with Earth's northern axis, making it a vital tool for navigation. While it is currently the North Star, axial precession will eventually cause another star to take its place.
Via Google Gemini:
The official state star of Minnesota is Polaris, commonly known as the North Star.
Its role as a symbol for the state is quite prominent and is reflected in several official ways:
State Motto: The motto L'Étoile du Nord (French for "The Star of the North") was adopted in 1861.
State Flag: The newest version of the Minnesota state flag, which became official in May 2024, features an eight-pointed North Star.
State Constellation: As of 2025, Ursa Minor (the Little Dipper) is the official state constellation, specifically chosen because it houses Polaris.
While many states have official birds or flowers, Minnesota is unique in how heavily it emphasizes its celestial identity as the "North Star State."

Some of the text is a little hard to understand. How many people know what "main sequence" is?
You could spell out light years instead of ly.
