Wow, the man was such a genius and even his selection of a Top 10 is stupendous! Im torn between Wild Strawberries (1957), Citizen Kane (1941) and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948).

I don't know if he was the best, but certainly the most free-spirited and independent, he didn't care about opinions, he preceded them.

Many good films here, probably Sierra Madre.

He's often referred as one, which is why I said that. There's Bergman or Tarkovsky or Lynch, many argued for that spot. But there never would a unanimous agreement.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) get my vote, I'm not sure it would make my top ten but wouldn't be far behind.
