I changed it to 'Best Cinematic Direction of A Motion Picture'. I chose not to rubber stamp the official titles in the questions, as they are at times very nondescript of both the scope and what they are being awarded for. My goal is be clear on what is being asked, including what the award is being given for and what measure the poll takers should use. If the official award name or category does that I will use it.

The Academy Award for Best Director (officially known as the Academy Award of Merit for Directing) is an award presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). It is given in honor of a film director who has exhibited outstanding directing while working in the film industry. The award is traditionally presented by the previous year's Best Director winner. Whether its the Academy Award of Merit for Directing or 

Achievement in Directing, neither phrase seems to exclude whether multiple types of films or multiple types of directors are eligible for the award. Plus, merit or achievement seems like multiple people could get the award, like it is sets a pass/fail threshold or only one person would qualify.

Plus, both phrases seems to imply shorts or documentaries directors are eligible, as well as, other types of directors: art directors, dialogue directors, etc., unless you go to the rules.

Achievement in Directing makes me want to ask directing what and achieving how? Plus, I chose to use single quotes because I believe they apply, as "Single quotes (can be used) for anything that behaves like an identifier".
