Benu,

Your list is showing Error 404 message.

When I saw 'Alternate History Movie', I remember that I made a similar suggestion before.

Favorite Alternate History Film - http://www.imdb.com/list/ls038177137/

Is your list similar to mine?

Updated Title: Most Creative Movie Story Revisionism

DC, There is an overlap with a third of your P.S. answer options. While, there is some overlap in answers this poll suggestion is more about creative movie revisionism. The question is focused on the plot rather than favorite, the scope is broader and includes other revisionist devices, uses IMDb ranking as opposed vote totals and criteria for what qualifies as alternate is tighter.

Alright, I have two that deal with alternate history or alternate worlds. First, a movie with a totally bogus history except for the Nazis and the Nazi proganda movie (that was real), "Inglourious Basterds (2009)" [url]http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361748/?.... Adolph Hitler, Eva Braun, Joseph Goebbels and Mrs. Goebbel died in the Fuhrerbunker (aka: "The Bunker") in Berlin, Germany and not in a movie theater fire in Paris, France.

Secondly, if you are going include time travel, "The Terminator".

I like the spin, I like the franchise, the spin and the pure enjoyabilty of the three. I wonder is their is reboot or sequel in the works.

Really nice idea, altered timelines, love it.

What about X-Men Days of Future Past?

My vote: Planet of the Apes (1968)

If Little Big Man is included, I guess Forrest Gump should. I doubt it was Gump who caused the Watergate (among many other things...).

I find the idea interesting but I'm not sure I would have mixed time-travel stories with movies set in an alternate universe/reality/history, the reason is this: the essence of time travel stories is to change/alter reality in a way or another, it is the most predictable aspect of the narrative, so it can't be creative in the sense that it's a common trope codified by this particular type of story. Yes there is revisionism, but it can't be more creative than a movie that actually revise history.

When I read your description, I immediately expected to see Inglourious Basterds, perhaps the gutsiest example of revised history (not that I loved the film but I admired QT's daring approach to WW2 material) so I wasn't surprised to see the film topping the list, same with Planet of the Apes, good choice, but then I saw Back to the Future, I saw like "huh?", why including time travel stories, anyway?

It's not the same approach to alternate reality, time travel stories alter realities established by their own narratives and it's expected, the other movies alter realities established by our personal knowledge and that is indeed creative.
