In an age where the remake and reboot dominate today's film industry, let's take a look at what 2019 has in store for us in that department.

What is your most anticipated remake or reboot of 2019?

Todd McFarlane does not have much directing experience, so I hope the Spawn does not wind up being a disaster again or a worse disaster. (For what it is worth, the original was not really a disaster, in my honest opinion, but definitely unexpectedly lackluster. The threat of being potentially being rated NC-17, which would have been unfair, did not help. I always though it weird how the CGI for the Violator looked way better than the CGI for Malebolgia.) This situation feels like one of those "if you want something to be done right, do it yourself" situations, which seemingly did not work out for Stephen King.

Then again, for each Stephen King there's Clive Barker who is as good at directing as he is at writing.

For shame that out of three of his feature films two were butchered by marketing to a point where Barker decided not to direct for awhile and that awhile still continues. :(

I agree - don't know much about Spawn but you hope a director like McFarlane can do a good job with it. Thanks for the input Jeorj!

The reboot I'm looking forward to the most would be Godzilla: King of the Monsters! I'm hoping there's lots of monster action! It will be interesting to see a Western interpretation of Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah.

For sure - I don’t know too much about the franchise but Eleven is gonna be in it so that’ll be awesome!

The Irishman!
Not a remake? Never mind, The Irishman!
(at least it'll reboot Pacino's career a little)

Right now, Hellboy (2019).
I thought Del Toro directed this one. :(

FYC
John Wick: Chapter 3 (2019)
To be released on May 2019 :)

Me too! He was supposed to and something went down that changed it.

As for John Wick, I'm trying to stay away from sequels and trying to focus on films that are either 1) rebooting a franchise or 2) remaking a classic.

Why are Dark Phoenix, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, and Going Places on this list? Dark Phoenix and Godzilla: King Of The Monsters are technically sequels. Going Places is really a spin-off.

They are sequels within rebooted movie franchises or of individual movies with characters, settings and themes to be the centerpiece of new stories designed for the next generation of audiences.

If that's the case, Shouldn't Spiderman: Far From Home be on this list too?

What this says to me is creativity is dead the majority of them don't need a remake or reboot and some are just why????. The remaining are movies that weren't even good the first time they tried it. Like the lion king the original was fine we had the sequel all right done with that one, lets make a new character with a new story totally different from Lion King  nope lets just recycle the same story and dish out the hot garbage for more money. Shaft come on the characters so outdated and removed from the present times it makes itself irrelevant and unreliable and second the original character was ridiculous and almost to the point that it's like a white guy took all the racist stereotypes of the black culture and threw it all into one character in a way that made even successful black men look like they talk in street language.I don't know maybe it was written and directed by black men but either they are some uncle tom types or there's a white guy in the mix somewhere. Godzilla go away I mean there's like a hundred Godzilla movies we have some foreign ones and some US made ones and the character has been overused in every sense of the word.Again this demonstrates a lack of creativity and new ideas by the industry recycling the same characters and same old boring stories. The setting may be different but we already know whats going to happen in the movie overall.Dumbo why using some computer animation when the original uses beautiful hand drawn animation and has been remastered over the years again make a new character and a different movie. Terminator reboot why not just make another final sequel with fresh ideas. Pet Sematary I was kind of upset at first when I saw the remake but then I thought what the new directors did with IT I mean they made King's original and the first movie seem like a goosebumps episode. People all said his books left a little mystery to things and open your mind to imagination to me that's not a book and lazy writing when I read a good book or watch a good movie I don't want to have to imagine details or finish the writers job I should be given details that pull me in by painting a perfect picture of the story. The Addams Family how many ways are they going to hand us this crap. Child's Play  the original was fine and then they killed it with too many sequels now why even beat that dead horse again make a new horror movie with fresh characters.Aladdin why the first movies were annoying and yet again come up with something new. MIB.Masters of the universe, grudge,Charlies angels, cold pursuit and the hustle why why why.The only reason I even voted was so I could comment when new release become all recycled material instead of the occasional one that's scary now and for the future of film.

How does the new It compare and contrast with the old It? I've not yet seen the new one, but from the trailers and clips, the movie looks like it may be on par with the old, just with more gore.
