LIVE POLL: Indies For Dummies

You want to make it as a film-maker, but you've got no A-lister to cast (not even B or C), no transcendent Kaufmanesque screenplay, no major studio contract, no particular skills as far as editing and directing goes, to put it simply: you're no Tarantino. But you have a vague idea of what your story should be... and you want to make an impact.

So, if you had to pick one, which of these (overused?) little tricks would you use to make your film debut more memorable?

NO MONEY?

A spin-off could be single setting movies that use one set and a single or small group of actors to create a compelling drama or suspenseful movie. While some of these are big studio productions, they could be replicated in principle at much cheaper price as indicated by some of the indies listed among them. The key to pulling it off is having a great story and talented actor(s) to carry the film. Rear Window, 12 Angry Men,  Locke, Buried,  Devil, Unknown, Exam,  The Hole, All is Lost, Moon, Frozen

Well, I guess it's pretty much covered in the 8th option :
Take your small group of people and put them in a confined space, and you'll have a claustrophobic masterpiece
Of course, I didn't go as far as suggesting a spin-off of a classic claustrophobic movie, but any story set in a confined place will inevitably borrow from classics.

I vaguely remember this one. No Story can be made from a unique slice of life premise. Keep it simple and clean. Easy way to keep the budget super low.

Hahahaha, I really like this one. 'Tough choice but probably "A beginning, a middle and an ending, but not in that order."
