Live Poll: IMDb Top Stars of 2020

Indeed the circusntances of the year made it a weird list. Ana de Armas was probably there as a Bond girl, but the delay in the film makes her an odd representative of the year.

For me Anya Taylor-Joy would be my choice. I haven't seen anything with her yet (Queen's Gambit is in my waiting list). But the series had an impact, and she was in two films that had a theatrical release and had mild success, which this 2020 is saying a lot.

I've always thought it strange that IMDb takes the page-views and deems those people as the "top stars" because page views are most indicative of newness and not just of the person but of a film or series. For instance, while watching "The Queen's Gambit," I looked at several of the actors' pages and noticed that all of the key players were near the top -- probably all in the top 20 or so. The most well known actor in that series is Anya Taylor-Joy but all of key actors were up really high. That makes sense because the show was new so it piqued people's interest and the actors weren't well known so people were curious to see in what other films or series they appear or maybe to find out a bit about them. Basic biographical information and filmographies for people like Brad Pitt or Quentin Tarantino are common knowledge so there's not as much need to look up the Meryl Streeps and Denzel Washingtons of the world. Of course, no one would consider Anya Taylor-Joy to be a bigger star than Brad Pitt so it's a strange designation. 

Enola Holmes and The Witcher are both represented twice; that's kind of interesting, especially as Henry Cavill is in both and is much more well known than most of the others on the list, which probably speaks to something about those movies. They're both on Netflix and that's probably a factor but I wonder  what else that speaks to, unless it's a fluke that they both have two actors on the list. 

Its a different question and therefore a different poll, so they don't necessarily come in order. Also, I asked if you were Ok with me posting my suggestion before doing so.
