Live Poll: IMDb Poll Board's Favorite Soundtrack

One of the most important aspects to our favorite films is the soundtrack. It can uplift you and make you, provide you with an eerie feeling, or even bring you dread.

Which film below selected by the members of the IMDb Poll Board do you like most?

List: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls049270999/

Great idea!  For now, I choose the soundtrack from Top Gun (minus that song Tom sang in the bar, lol).  I may change it to Miami Connection though, lol.  :)

I suspect that your Miami Connection name drop was a facetious one. Did you really want that as your pick over the insanely popular (rightfully so) Top Gun soundtrack?

Well, Top Gun is really great (Take My Breath Away & Danger Zone, oh, yeah!), but let us keep in mind that that soundtrack also includes Goose and Maverick's rendition of Great Balls of Fire!...  for the sake of fun, I'll stick with Against the Ninja and Friends!  There's only 8 on here so far, perhaps MovieSmith will let us all pick one more.  Then it will be Top Gun.

Choosing from a non-musical, I'd say Rushmore.
If we include musicals: Quadrophenia.

Added Rushmore. I think I'm going to limit to non-musicals.

It's a tough job but somebody has to say it: Once upon a time in the West (1968)

The question should be ‘which soundtrack do you like the most?’ because this poll is about soundtracks and not about favorite movies.

Good catch. List edited accordingly. Thank you.

I added the title from 1986 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091530/ - I think this is the one you are referring to. If I picked the wrong one, let me know and I will gladly change it. Thanks for contributing.

are you separating soundtracks from scores?....

1.5K Messages

 •

No.

1.4K Messages

 •

no problem...but then when somebody lists a title, they need to specify, because many films have both...

Then this is really difficult for me to choose. To help me cull down the megalist of favorite soundtracks, I will self impose the limits between scores and song based soundtracks.

To bring up something kinda unrelated, I want someone's quick opinion on this song performance I just saw... good or terrible?  Don't want this to be a huge discussion and take away from MovieSmith's idea, just curious what other people think:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEG3kVlDfbw

Arbitrarily picking from the relative random list of the following choices (based on the simplest of Advanced IMDb searches of movies I've rated over the past decades).

These are song based soundtracks (not score based soundtracks) to help whittle it down considerably.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
A Prairie Home Companion (2006)
Magnolia (1999)
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

I guess I'll nominate Amy Mann's focused Magnolia soundtrack... if you please.

Thanks.

I was really thinking about FYC'ing some of my 25 most favorite films, but then I remembered the front runner for 26th or 27th (now that I'm 27 I'm really thinking on expanding the list yearly or once in a few years) which has the most perfectly eclectic soundtrack ever:
Lost Highway (1997)

Leave it to
David Lynch to have Angelo Badalamenti and Trent Reznor  to compose original score and then use songs by David Bowie, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed, Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins... With all of that paradoxically fitting together like a glove.

Good idea! I'll have to think through my favorites and choose one. Pulp Fiction, Magnolia,  Reality Bites, and The Graduate are a few of them but I'm definitely missing some.
