Live Poll: Favorite Superhero Horror Combination Movie?

The superhero horror genre seems to be headed for a box office record breaking year in 2019. The unique sub-genre already has no fewer than a half dozen major movies scheduled for a 2019 release, including Glass (2019), Hellboy (2019), BrightBurn (2019), The New Mutants (2019), Spawn (2019) and Morbius. Superhero horror movies usually feature superhero characters and have at least one of the following elements: they are monsters at the same time, they derive their powers from a supernatural source or they fight monsters and supernatural forces.

Which of these existing superhero horror movies* that combines elements of both genres is your favorite, so far? * I may or may not limit the final answer pool to one superhero horror movie answer option per franchise with 10,000+ IMDb votes and a 5.0+ IMDb rating.

Now, that is a combination, which quite often provides for unusual, thoughtful cult movies. Quite hard to choose already as The Crow (1994), Darkman (1990) and Unbreakable (2000) are simply great, Blade (1998) and Venom (2018) have quite some charm, Spider-Man 3 (2007), while a bit flawed is still a Sam Raimi film and list has quite a few great titles to offer, as well.

Still, FYC:
Doctor Mordrid (1992) (a result of adaptation of Marvel's Dr. Strange being re-written)
Faust: Love of the Damned (2000) (an adaptation of brutal and cool Avatar Press comic)
Ichi the Killer (2001) (a very odd beast of a movie which adapts some aspect in a more superhero-like way then original manga portrays the plot; still more of a deconstruction)

Recently announced Brightburn also looks rather promising.

I added these three titles from your suggestions, the others were too lowly rated and not well-seen enough to be viable answer options.

Ichi the Killer 2001 | Movie 7.1 (48,544)

WolfCop 2014 | Movie 5.5 (5,514)

Doctor Mordrid 1992 | Movie 5.8 (1,156)

Obviously, I agree I think they fill out the poll, add another dimension and leave some of the trash curbside.

Meanwhile I'm quite interested where they're leading with this one.

I am a bit curious as to why you mostly don't feature sequels and yet Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) is there instead of Hellboy (2004)

I figure that there are so many movies out there, poll takers and the movies are best served by getting the broadest selection. Two or more movies from the same franchise are likely to split the vote anyway, so it doesn't help the franchise to win any polls either. I would rather give the spot to an under-appreciated title that was well-done, but not as well seen or an older title that deserves to be recognized.

As to why  Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) is there instead of Hellboy (2004), I can't remember my reasoning, but do remember it was a conscious choice. I rated both 7/10 personally and they seem to be close in aggregate rating and vote totals. I am not opposed to putting a sequel forward as the representative for a franchise. In most cases, i don't think are top of mind when most people think of the franchise though or the best movie for that matter. Of course, there are exceptions and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) is a worthy equal or likely slightly edged the original for the spot.

P.S. Also, when a movie gets up to 3,4, 5 or more installments it get repetitive and I the principle of diminishing returns come into play. However, I will take your implied advice and add Hellboy (2004) since we are only at 22 options.

You mention titles scheduled for release in 2019, but three of them are now due in 2020 or later.
