* unbelievable! 007 James Bond films being rated as "PG"? Especially after how Masterson gets killed covered in with the gold paint in "Goldfinger"? That is hard to believe. But I saw it with my own eyes as I was going through the list! I know that "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" were rated ether "M" or "R" when they were initially released because the nudity, Bond's bedroom scenes, and the violence. How times have changed! Even "The Pirates Of The Caribbean" movies got the PG-13 rated and they have less nudity than the two Bonds films and has the same amount of violence!

** The same comment as I said about Bond. This should have gotten at least a PG -13 rating. The violence is graphic and realistically portrayed.

The BoxOfficeMojo list for Top Grossing PG films adjusted for estimated ticket sales is even more radically different that the one I stated and the one that is the topic of this page.

Correction, it is almost the same as the one that I had mention except with a few changes in the films on the bottom of the list.

Hey, Urbane why don't you try to make one list for animated movies and another for non-animated.

PS, I updated the poll introduction to be more current, as Beauty and the Beast  came out some time ago and updated the poll answers through the end of calendar 2018, as the initial list was created on 27 Apr 2017.

PG-13 ratings are considered the "sweet spot" of movie marketing, sandwiched between the also lucrative PG and R ratings. But, PG rated movies are decidedly pretty great too, representing the second largest segment of the five M.P.A.A. ratings. The two together, PG-13 and PG represent 90% of the all-time total domestic box office.
