He's done many great films but my personal Top 3 will be a bit weird:

The Principal (1987)

The Punisher (1989)

Momentum (2003)

@GabrielFox YES, Enemy Mine is so great. Your Top 3 is fantastic. I just usually feel a strange affection to less known (sometimes even cheesy, low-budget) films!

The same thing happens to me.
Sometimes you find hidden movie gems.
It's a great experience when that happens.

Which one of these select movies starring Louis Gossett Jr. is your favorite?

1) FYI, "The Roots" title is a TV mini-series not a movie. I would exclude it from the list or change the scope to be broader and more inclusive.

2) It is better to state that it is sad that he passed, rather than he was sad when he passed.

3) He had a pretty extensive stage and television career in addition to his film career.
