  • I think the title should be changed from "Favorite 'Karate Kid' Villain" to "Favorite Karate Kid Media Franchise Villain" or "Favorite Karate Kid Franchise Villain". The single quotes in the proposed title implies the poll is limited to movie villains only and not the entire multi-media franchise.

  • I think question would be clearer and more balanced, if you specified "Cobra Kai" is a streaming TV series.

Which villain from the 'Karate Kid' film series and the "Cobra Kai" streaming series is your favorite baddie?

  • I think there are some notable baddie ommissions from the answer pool, including John "Johnny" Lawrence and Tommy from the The Karate Kid (1984).
  • I think the answer pool would benefit from title tags for all the images, as well as, the detailed notes should specify either the single or the multiple titles appearance each villain has been featured in. For instance, Martin Kove as John Kreese appears in more than one Karate Kid franchise title.

Disagree. Since Karate Kid is a title, it makes sense to use quotation marks, and since it is originally a movie title it makes sense to use single quotation marks.

I would agree it make sense, but I can't seem to find a authoritative style source that takes a position one way or other, when a franchise is in both mediums, or the discussed topic includes multi-media titles. I would think the safest play would be to leave them without either.

I don't think the distinction between single quotes for movies and double quotes for TV shows comes from any authoritative source other than IMDb.

I searched and found an old post where IMDb staff recommended single quotation marks in a poll titled Future 'Star Wars' Titles

I assume the IMDb standards are not random and are derived from the established publishing protocols (AP, APA, Chicago, MLA, and AMA Style guides) that generally call for single quotations for longer works and double quotations for shorter works.

If you cite websites, please post a link or quote the text rather than an image with an address. The page doesn't say what you said.

IMDb cited AP style when it comes to capitalization. AP style suggests quotation marks around movie or TV show titles – usually double, but single quotation marks in "headlines". I believe IMDb have made their own version.

@Aris_Athanas There are multiple John villains, I think it would be better to use full names.
