Now, the story behind Michelangelo's painting The Sistine Chapel's Ceiling is the inspiration for Irving Wallace's book and movie "The Agony And The Ecstasy " (1965). And since the prologue that plays with the film before the credits is considered a separate film, that's two movies. And here is an inside joke, since the main movie touchs on the feud between Michealangelo and the renaissance architect Donato Bramante, the architect of St. Peter's Basilica in the film. What the film doesn't tell you is that Bramante died before the finishing of the construction the basilica. The construction was then taken over by Raphael. When Raphael died, Michealangelo took over and nearly finished it. The dome that the camera flies over at the end of the prologue was designed by Michealangelo and it brilliant, but then so was Bramante's whole design for St. Peter's Basilica was brilliant also. But Michealangelo did have the last laugh in that feud.
